I have lived here for a little over a year, moving out in 2 glorious weeks! Where to start-I'll start with the good. We moved into one of the newly remodeled units and it was very clean, new carpet, new fixtures-very nice. The heat is a set rate so that is really nice in the winter. When we moved in we identified several things that were broken such as the cabinets were cracked in the kitchen, spackling on the floor in the bathroom, and the counter over the dishwasher came unattached from the wall-they only fixed the cabinet. The biggest problem with this apartment complex are the employees. A few weeks after we moved in our screen door broke and they promised us it would be 10 days for a new one. After 2 weeks we finally called and they informed us they had "forgot" to order it and assured us it would be another 10 days. Another 2 weeks later, still no door. Once again we contacted them and they told us that they take at least 2-3 months to get in and that we were misinformed. Bottom line it took 3 months before we got a new screen door.
Another problem we had was they "lost" the key to our apartment and had to put a new locks on the door; this wasn't a big deal except that when we left we realized they only put one new lock on and the other was the old one. So my fiance went and talked to the office where the girl working there informed us that we needed to pay $50.00 for the new lock and acted like it wasn't a big deal that they only replaced one lock. My fiance explained that THEY lost our key and the maintenance guy said we had to replace it. Finally the maintenance guy, who was VERY nice, came and fixed the lock.
Last but not least a few weeks before I was going to be giving them a 30-day written notice I went in to talk to the girl in the office-who is ALWAYS on the phone with calls I don't perceive to be business related-to ask what all we needed to do and to find out how much this last month would be because its not in our year lease. She gae me a paper to fill out and informed me it would be an extra $100 on my rent. So I did filled the paper out and payed the extra money. A few days ago while I was away with work I got a notice on my door that I owed $54. I called and the woman acted like I was an idiot for thinking that it was only an extra $100, even though that was what I was told. My rent this month totaled-$674 for my 1 bedroom apartment. DON"T LIVE THERE OUTSIDE OF YOUR LEASE unless you want to pay dearly for it!
The noise at night can be intolerable if you have to get up at 5:15am to go to work. My neighbors will be out on our joint deck all hours of the night smoking their hucka pipe. They leave anywhere from 6-14 pairs of shoes inside our hallway, which is really nice when you have company come over.
Overall I wouldn't live here! Not unless they get new people in the office and I could live without a joint deck.
