Recurring Drain Problems

Have lived here for three years, pay my rent perfectly (early) each month. I don't caue problems, I follow the rules. Unfortunately, I would not recommend due to the recurring drain problems in my building. Part of the reason I moved to an apartment was because I wanted something "maintenance free." Also, due to an ankle transplant, I did not want to climb the stairs. They settled me into a downstairs apartment where I am hooked into a shared plumbing system. If anyone dumps something in the pipes that shouldn't be there, it erupts all over my kitchen floor and the smell is putrid. I can only imagine the types of infectious things in the water (salmonella, bacteria, ecoli, etc). Many times will come home from work and it will be all over the kitchen floor and nearly to the living room. I've spent a hundred dollars out of my own pocket in paper towels and cleaning supplies to help get it cleaned up. Maintenance has been nice and they will come pour sulfuric acid down the drain and try to snake with their 10 ft equipment, but due to equipment limitations it doesn't always get fixed the first time. Or the 6th time. The Drain Buster they use is quite strong and gives my 1st grader headaches and sore throat. Management staff has been less pleasant or helpful. Instead of hiring a professional to come in and look at the building or getting the problem fixed permanently, they send threatening letters to all the tenants in the building to charge $50 per visit to fix, whether you are the one causing the problem or not. I am looking to move before too much longer, but living here has been nothing short of a nightmare.
