The rent is reasonable for Fishers and the amenities are nice: a free carport and W/D, and no pet rent (just a pet deposit) make it a great deal. Karen in the office is great and knows residents by their name. I've seen her doing nice favors for tenants that she is under no obligation to do.

Yes, the apartments are showing their age and could use a facelift inside and out but they are still nice places. I have a one bedroom and while I wish I had a porch, I do enjoy the sunroom (as does my cat!) For a one bedroom I am impressed with the storage. There's a big pantry in the kitchen, a linen closet, a hall closet, a large walk-in closet and storage shelves in the sunroom above the W/D.

Neighbors are courteous and friendly; people actually smile and say "hello" instead of pretending they don't see you. They also pick up after their dogs so you don't have to dodge land mines. The apartments must have thick walls because I've never heard my neighbors next to me. Only occasionally do I hear my neighbors walking around upstairs.

As a single woman living alone, I feel very safe at Deerbrook. I've read the negative comments about the security weirdo but have never laid eyes on him. If he's a bit overzealous about his job, I think that's better than *no* security at all. As you drive through the complex you'll see four or five cop cars and I like that law enforcement officers live here.

Maintenance does a good job; I've never had an issue with them.

I only have two very minor complaints: They have mailboxes for the whole complex centrally located across from the leasing center. It's an inconvenience because I'm on the other side of the complex. I wish they'd install boxes within each building but it's certainly not a huge deal or anything.

The second thing I don't care for is the lack of counter space in the kitchen. There's hardly any room to prepare food! Perhaps it's different in larger apartments, I don't know.

Overall I'm very pleased with Deerbrook and would highly recommend.
