The reviews are probably mostly lies told by people trying to either
a. persuade you to live somewhere else (written by competitors) or
b. persuade you to live here (written by management)
well i lived there for a year and now i'm somewhere else...here's my break-down of the complex...
on the pro's side, the area is VERY quiet, the lawns are well-taken care of, the staff is (mostly) nice, and everyone you run into (other apartment-dwellers) will most likely be friendly. the apartments are clean (although ours had some dust in it on the high cupboards but nothing a little pledge won't cure) and well-maintained. our rent was very affordable. there aren't many kids or drug-addicts around and i've heard rumors of some at other near-by complexes. there aren't college parties every weekend to keep you awake. it's a very quiet neighborhood and the park backing up to it is nice also. the car-ports are definately a nice amenity in the winter.
on the cons side...the walls seemed to be paper-thin. i heard numorous phone conversations by our neighbors at all hours of the night and early morning...i even woke up to their alarm clock on a few occaisions...i would definately say that was the worst aspect of the apartment...i could hear someone in the living room watching tv (word for word) when i was trying to sleep in the bedroom. i understand that you'll hear muffled noise or something, but it was rediculous. i've heard from other people that they had no problems with this so maybe it was just a bad apartment we got...but if you're looking into moving in...ask them to have their neighbors turn on their tv before you sign on the line lol...the only other real con was the size of the apartment. it was decently sized but our new apartment is much larger and has plenty more counter-space. there's little to no counter space at lake forest. about enough room for a small microwave, a toaster, and a small coffee-maker on one side and enough room for about 2 plates next to the sink.
all in all, i'd recommend the apartments to someone as long as space wasn't their main objective. the pros definately outweigh the cons and the area can't be beat.
