At first glance it looks like a nice place. But looks deceive. These buildings were built in the early 70's and even though there was a remodeling done they are still old buildings. The remodel seems to have been done very cheaply. It doesn't take long to figure that out. I don't think they spent a lot of money on materials! Paint is nothing but chalk dust! It comes off and marks up very easily! I had problems with electric, water leaks, carpet, tile coming up......etc... If you get a one or two bedroom apartment with a W/D hook-up I wish you luck! The pipes freeze in the winter and then you have a flood! Hell, there's floods even in the summer! It was a very poor design and I don't think the place has the plumbing to support it. Beware also of sewer back-ups and water main breaks! I also had what I know are carpenter ants in the outside walls and nothing was ever done even though I reported it. No one ever came to look.
Parking is a pain! Many people have three and four vehicles and park them all up front of the building. The office just says parking is first come first serve. The kids play out in the parking lot around the cars and nobody ever does anything. My car got scratched up by a kids bike twice! There are a lot of teenage/early 20's people around too. Sometimes they just hang out in the parking lot or on the front steps. They won't move for you and they leave trash and cigarette butts all over the place. I know this can happen anywhere but some of these people were kind of scary. People hang out all hours of the night! I know someone who's tires were slashed and her car was broken into twice!
Maintenance is questionable. Sometimes they seem to know what they're doing and other times not so much. I did many things myself just because I didn't want to hassle with them. They put out water sprinklers that pepper your car with nasty hard water and think it's no big deal!
Be careful if you walk around the grounds! You may want to have other shoes and mace available! They allow large dogs and they're all over the place! They don't usually run lose but people just don't clean up after them. I've seen pitbulls too and they are not supposed to have them.
Office staff was nice but I don't really know why they have an assistant property manager. On several occasions she told me that I had to speak to the manager. These weren't difficult questions. The manager was gone and I had to wait over a week! What good is an assistant if they can't do anything but show apartments, take maintenance requests, and answer the phone, especially when the manager is away' The manager seemed a little meek too me. I got the impression that she didn't like to hear about problems. Isn't that just part of the job'
All in all, it was not a pleasant experiance. I know that one of the main attractions is that they include all your utilities. But I think you can find better alternatives even if you have to pay a utility bill.

From the Ashmore Trace Property Manager: First, I would like to thank you for choosing to make Ashmore Trace your home for two years. To address your specific concern, yes, we were built in the 1970???s and we are proud of that fact. Our solid brick construction and classic style are just one of the reasons we are still so attractive. The interior renovation was completed in 2003 and the materials used in the renovation were standard construction grade. I am sorry to hear that you had a problem with pipes freezing in your home. Unfortunately, sometimes pipes will freeze when the temperatures fall below zero for an extended period. Maintenance is always very responsive when this occurs, as it is our goal to restore running water to all outlets as soon as possible. In addition, we do allow dogs up to eighty pounds, but we do have breed restrictions in place. Pit-bull is a breed that we do not give authorization to our residents to have in the apartment. Occasionally however, a resident will house a pit-bull in their apartment without management???s approval. When this occurs, the resident is asked either to remove the pet from the apartment within ten days or to find other housing altogether. We also do have rules regarding congregations in the parking lots and on the steps leading to the buildings. We try our best to enforce this policy and act on all complaints that are received from our residents. We take great pride in our community and encourage all of our residents to allow us to show them the level of service we provide. Sincerely, Kathy Cross, Property Manager, (317) 882-1547.

Ha! Typical response from a property manager. I know that if you don't add insulation in the wall around pipes they freeze! Duh! It was so cold in a friends kitchen that when they complained and maintenance opened up the wall under the sink, there was none! This was an outside wall!
Funny how there's rules against congregations in certain areas but nobody ever enforces them! I've seen various members of the staff just drive right by! Try your best? I don't think so!
