I will miss Courts of Valle Vista!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I moved in here in April 2008 after going thru a divorce. I had not lived in an apartment for well over 14 years. I was so scared to go back to this. But, the managment really helped me in my hesitation.
When I viewed my apartment, (2 bedroom one bath on the pond bottom floor) I was so pleased with what I saw. It has a beautiful view, which I really enjoyed all summer off the HUGE and I mean HUGE back porch... I planted flowers, bulbs and the person who lived here before me really had a knack for some wonderfully huge Elephant ear Hastas... they really made the place shine! Anyways, when I looked at the apartment, I did express that I was not happy with the appliances. The fridge is at least 20 years old and the stove was just as old. The dishwasher looked VERY basic, but not more than 10 years old. But, I was assured, should I have any problems, I would have them replaced.
On my move in date, I was so happy. I got fresh brand new carpet, a new stove and the manager even threw in a new stackable washer/dryer for NO EXTRA CHARGE! I was just THRILLED! This saved me $40/mo! Being a single mother, it was important to save every penny.
I pay $635/mo and that includes my washer/dryer.
The grounds are beatiful, the ponds are clean and the area is QUIET! I know they had this one tenant who her and her man kept doing things to get cops called out here for domestic issues... well, the management didn't stand for it and they were gone almost immediately. They do not allow people to cause disruption here. I loved that.
Plus, it's safe. My children can play outside and I dont' have to worry about them. The other parents here are mostly very respectable people and all our children play well together and we all watch out for eachothers kids. It's a very nice community to live in and raise children in.
They also have Pizza night where you can get $6.00 pizzas in the Clubhouse once per month. During the Holiday season, you could get a FREE family portriat done in the clubhouse and they left nice little gifts on our door steps. We also got free trash pick up one day that week from right outside our door! How cool is that''' It's just the little things that really made it nice to live here. I WISH THEY HAD A POOL, but the lower cost of rent is worth not having it.
Maintenance is WONDERFUL! I have had two issues. During the Johnson County Floods, the pond overflowed and flooded every bottom floor apartment in this complex. I was out of town at the time. These wonderful people came into my apartment, blocked all my furniture and appliances up to keep them from getting ruined. I lost a minimal amount of items and that was just some boxes in a closet. I was so pleased. The company they chose to dry the place out SUCKED, but I only know that because I'm in the insurance restoration business myself and they had no idea how to dry out an apartment. I was quite displeased with the length of time it took to dry it out and I do fear there is a mold issue here because of it now.
Another time, my water heater broke. They came right in and took excellent care of it immediately. But, be aware, they are SMALL water heaters. If you want to take multiple showers in the morning (You, your spouse, kids, etcc....) you will need to space them out in 10-20 minute incriments to avoid the cold shower. Even then, the longest shower I can get out of the hot water lasts about 10 minutes if I'm lucky.
The neighbors are LOUD as hell. But it's just like some of the others have said, it's all luck. The people who lived here befor me, were EXCELLENT. Young couple with a baby and I never heard a PEEP. Now I have a family from India who live upstairs from me and although they have an infant only, it seems as though they are wearing concrete shoes and never pick up their baby. The smell from their food seeps down into my apartment too and although, sometimes, it smells lovely, there have been a few times, I have actaully had to leave the apartment to get a breathe of fresh air!
I am relocating out of state for a job. I'm going to really miss living here. OH! And when we had some serious snow this winter, the maintenance guy even helped me get my truck out of the parking lot! Very nice people here.
I just PRAY that my next apartment is as accomodating. But, I can almost BET I will be dissapointed compared to the Courts of Valle Vista.
