Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
Noisy neighbors moved in above me months ago: constantly having loud music and parties at like 3a on a Sunday. After 6 complaints to the office over a long period of time, they did nothing until I threatened to call the police. Then they gave them a written noise complaint. Mind you I?d already talked with the neighbors on about 6 occassions letting them use my phone, dish soap, etc. A different neighbor of mine, tried to break down my door one night in his drunken stupor. Another night going to take my dog for a walk and there was a guy holding a gun to another person?s head; walks into the middle of a gang gun fight. Took them 4 attempts to fix a leaky sink and still I have had to keep a bucket underneath for over a year now. Toilet back ups so bad you want to literally run away screaming. Then they come out and get the line unclogged (mind you it?s a main line problem all the time) and then leave piles of poop and sewer water lying all over your bathroom floor drying for you to spend 8 hours and your money cleaning up and then offer you $20 to replace the towels that you lost in the battle. HORRIBLY DRAFTY!!! Thank god I live in a gas heat apartment and they pay gas heat because even with the heat to 80, the apartment is so frigid. In the furnance closet, you can see open foundation, no flooring letting in all the nice wintry air, plus every window and the door leaked cold air constantly. The door lock has been messed up time and again and they ?fixed? it once before and I can still barely turn the lock. After ALL THIS and MUCH MORE for two years, the office refused to let me out of my lease without PAYING BACK the $600 free rent that I was issued at the beginning as an incentive to live there PLUS $1500 lease penalty break fee PLUS any days of rent due from the current month. I mean after threatening letters from neighbors (mind you they supposedly do a credit and criminal background check on these people), s**t/sewer water flying out of my toilet, the office NEVER returning phone calls, etc... I still was being held to my lease. All this for a cracker-jack sized apartment that I had to pay nearly $500/mth for. Conclusion... I could go one for 2 years worth of disappointments, never returned phone calls, bad neighbors, noise problems, security issues, ridiculously bad maitenance EVEN THOUGH I was never late on rent (not one day), but I will spare you and just warn you... WARNING about renting here! They let anyone who wants to, rent there, seems like I like in a dorm room with like 100 twelve year olds. If you want to pay high rent and live in drunken teenage-ville and have the police visit your building every week (daily sometimes) and be miserable every minute you are there, then YES, rent here. If you want to be happy, run fast and far away!
