There are lots of amenities in the Mansards, the grounds are pretty well maintained and the maintenance staff is pretty responsive. The free utilities are a very nice feature, however I think that's taken care of by the steep rent increases each year. There are lots of children playing in the parking lots (even though there are playgrounds on the premises) and if you're not careful, you will hit them. The children living in the complex are loud and unruly. The only solice from them is that the apartments are very sound proof. Pets are allowed and you can't walk the grounds without being reminded of that every other step because no one cleans up after their pets. There are four apts on the second floor in my bldg and there are 8 dogs (three of them living in a one-bdrm). Dogs are allowed to go to the bathroom on the balcony's so you won't be able to get too much enjoyment out of your balcony if you have one. Although, there are very nice swimming pools you can't enjoy those either because children are allowed in the pools without parents and jump in with street clothing and are extremely rude and disruptive. There's a very nice pond but you can't enjoy it either unless you like to see children throwing rocks at ducks. Since I've lived there two cars have been stolen from people in my bldg. and a car window busted from the children playing in the street probably. There has also been some drug activity associated with the complex. I can't say this is because the Mansards has poor security, because the security certainly can't protect you from other residents and their friends.

All in all, I will say, if you are a single person (with no children), decent, and hardworking, appreciate quiet and can afford to live somewhere else like Port De Luc in Munster, DO IT! It will cost more and have many less amenities but for the piece of mind, its worth it.
