The Mansards overall is a pretty decent place to live. I don't have much to say about how they charge everyone different prices for the same floor plans, but what can u say. Maybe people are being dishonest about what they're rent is, right' The pool on the Southside of the complex is probably the main reason I stay. The management office really goes the extra mile to get u in, but once u sign your lease, they don't care about you until your lease is about to be up again. Before I moved, I requested a specific floorplan & my leasing agent sd, oh we will have one available on your move date, however I never got a chane to see MY apt. On my move date with all of my belongings in a U-Haul, I went to the office & requested my key. I absolutely hated the apartment they assigned me. I requested another one or I would not rent from them. Didn't matter. I had already signed my lease & got my "special move in rate" locked in because it would be ending on my move in date. LOL. Another buddy of mine's got it 2 mnths later. I ended up moving in the apt i didn't like, but had 2 do another credit check & another deposit in order to move in the floor plan I requested once my first lease was up. Word to the wise, know what apartment they are giving you before you move here and have them put it on the rental agreement they draw up for ya.
Now I live in a building with mostly young 20-30 year olds, which makes it more difficult to enjoy peace & quiet, especially if they have young children. There isn't anything that can be done about that from the Mansard's though, except just to make random checks to verify that people only have the individuals they specified on the lease would be living in there apt. I have 4 apt's in my building that have @ least 2 different families in one apartment. That makes it more difficult to get past them because in the winter they hang out in the hall. Noise is always present and so is the constant worry that someone will break into your poorly secured home when you are away on a business trip or vacation.
Also, please if you have a problem paying rent on time, please, I beg you do not move here. This complex has a very intuitive way to have you out by the 15th of the month that you missed, and rent your apartment again by the 1st. They are very money hungry. I have seen it happen to too many of my neighbors. They are completly heartless when it comes to they're rent. 20 mins frm the south side of Chicago. Plenty of stores and fast food restaurants, but don't pay your rent & you are outta here.

This is so true. I live in the Mansards and have had many people eveicted because of the swiftness of evictions. If you are late on your rent, you will be in court by the 1st and out BEFORE THE 15TH. To avoid this you must pay a $100 late fee and $250 in attorney fees. The gas and elecetric is billed by a company not the utility company. I am paying a heating bill in the winter for heating I never use. I am on the second floor and the Mansards is very well insulated. So the $60 a month i'm billed for heat I dont use goes in someone's pocket. Add to this that you can only turn the heat up so high anyway. I have been here six years and it's time for me to go. My friends and Neighbors who have better jobs and credit have left the Mansard and continue to leave.
