I see they have people padding the ratings now.If you ever lived at the Mansards in the last 10 years or so you know better. If you lived there 30 years ago and went there now it would bring tears to your eyes on how badly the place has degraded in every aspect. It was a beautiful place to live. When I was there my parents had to get permission for me to be there as know one under 18 was allowed at that time.I was 17.
Even though I moved out in 01 I still know people there and nothing has changed except now I guess you have to pay for utlities, which the Mansards was always famous for not having you do,but that is not here nor there.
I remember they the people there who too lazy to take their dogs outside so they would just have them go out on the balcony. After a little rain it would drip down and smell just so nice :( and that is not an isolated apartment. Also people would just let their animals go on the sidewalks without even picking it up.I could go on but there is just no pride in the place it seems to me anymore. As long as rent checks come in that's all that matters.I saw quite a few evictions when I lived there, but NEVER saw one when I lived there 30 years ago.You used to have to pass a credit check
before you could move in.
One time when I was out on strike I did some security work at the now closed down "Highlands Apartments" and you know about them or have ever lived there or know somebody who did that is what the Mansards is like now except the buildings are nicer.I will say one thing far the Highlands. At least they kept armed security on grounds at all times.

First of all, it is ILLEGAL to not rent to people that have a 17 year old child. Please look up the Fair Housing Laws and you will find the limitations that make rentals different from 30 years ago. Also, the Mansards splits the utility bill with the residents. No one else in town does that. In addition, they do run credit checks. As a matter of fact, they also run criminal checks. Please do your research before you make grand statements like you have. The Mansards is still a beautiful place.

I really think it is sad when a person has a valid problem or bad experience at an apartment complex. I have met people that have had no heat, rats in their apartment, crack dealers for neighbors, and their homes broke into on a monthly basis and the managment team would do nothing about it AND THIS IS NOT THE CASE AT THE MANSARDS. The Mansards does everything that they possible can to help each resident enjoy a quality lifestyle. I have lived here for a year now and I am happy. I have a huge apartment for a fraction of the cost of those other guys and the staff helps me out whenever I need it. I have had service requests in the past and they have always been taken care of within 48 hours or so. I work downtown and knowing that the staff is professional and wants to maintain their community is a reassuring thought. I have also had friends at other communities or with private landlords that have come home to a maintenance person or the building owner "hanging-out" in their apartment--SCARY and THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT THE MANSARDS!!!! There are so many other horrible things that can happen to anyone while renting or owning for that matter that having a rental increase due to the cost of living going up or having a neighbor who is another nationality seem like a pretty petty complaint. Valid problems are few and FAR BETWEEN at the Mansards!

This 1/05/08 comment was clearly posted by the Mansards staff. Have you seen the crime reports for the Mansards alone? All of the things that you mention happen at "those other guys" happen at the Mansards. At least people are not getting killed in the parking lot at "those other guys".

The stark contrast between what contrast between what the the Mansards were in 1980 and what they are now is just plain sad.I would love to here the statistics for crime then and now.The only time I ever saw a flashing light then is when one of my neighbors died of a heart attack. Here a good story for you.My daughter excepted a job baby sitting two five year old boys there.(this was after we moved out) So I get this frantic phone call from her dad you got to come help me,these two little kids are coming after me with knives.I'm like in total disbelief, and I drove over there and sure enough here was to little A.f.r.o-American kids with knives and they locked my daughter out of the apartment because she ran for her life.I tried to diffuse the situation and I'm a big man and you would think these little guys would at least respect me,but know after I called there Mother in Chicago and I waited for her to come home.We finally got back in and these kids started throwing everything they could find at me and my daughter. Well when the Mother finally arrives she takes out a belt and beats and beats and beats these kids, one of them she looked at and said this was probably your idea and takes him in another you and continued to beat him.I wonder why these kids were so violent?hmmmm. Then she ended up stiffing my daughter 860 bucks worth of baby sitting.Looking back I wish I wish I would have called DCFS,but I was just happy to get my daughter out of there. If they still live there they are probably 9 now and running the neighborhood.I hope the lost their penchant for knives.
