The most upsetting fact about living here is the noise level. When you complain to management - they just don't care. You can literally hear your neighbors having sex - and I am not talking about the bed banging against the wall and floor - although that drives me crazy too. I am talking about the noise of the participants; the moaning, groaning and screaming... and if I can hear it then you know there children that live in the house can hear it too.
I think they should have a quiet section; for individuals that do not have children. I suggested this... they told me that would be discrimination. That is nonsense! As soon as my current lease is up - I am outta here!
My advice to the Mansards.... allow the Gary Public Housing Department to take over the complex. Maybe the place will improve.

Go to www.hud.gov and look up fair housing laws.

There is a difference between fair housing laws and housing codes. Dear Mansards staff member that made the 8/02/07 post, you should do a better job at following the housing codes that dictate that only so many occupants per bedroom and you would see that noise would be the least of your concerns. Stop renting out 1 bedroom apartments to couples with 2-3 kids. If you master the basics of real estate/renting, then you can focus on the crime- and drug-infested "projects" that you are creating. I find it hard to believe that this place is located in Griffith.

I do understand your feelings ans what you are saying is true. I could not beleive that I was actually hearing the people up above me having sexI was shocked that I could hear them that clear. I moved in to the Mansards 1 1/2 years now and I am ready to move now it is not as elegant, as it was when I first moved in and now people are smoking in the corridors of the building. I guess i will think like you all when I move too! soooo... sad.

If the original poster of this review desires to live in a place where quiet is the "norm" they should probably consider moving in a single family home in the far burbs. I've lived in apartments costing almost twice that of the Mansards' rent and I heard rump sessions almost every night. That's not uncommon in apartments. Remedy? Get a life & make your own sounds at night ;) or buy a home.

To the poster of 4/26/08. You obviously have a much lower level of standards that you abide by. Not everyone can afford to buy a home. Just because some choose to live in an apartment should not be grounds to have to settle for sub-human living conditions. After all, you pay good money for that roof over your head just as a home owner pays good money for their roof.
I also want to agree with the original poster. Isn't it interesting how the "Fair Housing Laws" discriminate against those who don't wish to contribute to the over population of the planet.

Yes, we should have segregation again. Please separate me from ignorant people who can't even spell segregation!!
