The Mansards

I find it very scary that THE MANSARDS did not inform their residents of the beating of a single woman within their community, especially with the community having at least 65% single woman living on the community. This should be illegal withholding information that could be dangerous to those unaware of whats going on. Is it because they would lose current renters or new renters..... whatever the case may be I find it very disturbing and careless of the "business" they like to call it, that they are not displaying concern. I unfortunately live here and noticed security officers sleeping in the booths, sexually harrassing women, not very aware of their surroundings, uniforms unclean, the unprofessional conversations I have complained to the manager about the harrassment but yet I still see the young man who has disrespected me and sleeps while on duty, with all the unemployed people who need work they keep people who will not work and make it unsafe for others need I say more. No wonder people call it THE MANSARDS PROJECTS. The only nice part about the mansards is the clubhouse what a trick to get you in.

It is all definitely a trick. They lure you in with the club house. Half the outside pools are not open in the summer.

If this story is true, why would management have to inform the residents? There should only be a community alert if this happens two or more times. Security sleeping in the booth? There is hardly ever a security officer in the booth and when there is, he has been wide awake when I've passed and very polite. I have my doubts about whether you are really a resident or even a former resident. And I'd like to see the proof that this complex is made up of 65% single women. I think you pulled that number out of you know where... Also, judging by the poor writing style and bad grammar of some of these posts, I'm sure that most of these negative reviews are posted by the uneducated, welfare-leech types that we need to get out of this complex to make it better. EDITED TO ADD: Yeah, blah, blah, blah, employee, management, whatever. I did my research before moving here (e.g. police, newspapers) and found nothing to deter me from becoming a resident. I haven't had a problem living here and one robbery wouldn't change my mind. Even in the safest neighborhoods on the north side of Chicago, I would have to worry about being mugged. When are you negative reviewers going to get it through your thick heads that NOT EVERYONE SHARES YOUR OPINION OF THIS PLACE. EDITED TO ADD AGAIN: Here is a quote from an article dated year ago after the shooting death from the Griffith Police Department: "Corporal Hector Arroyo of the Griffith Police Department said he isn't quick to label the Mansards as a danger zone.
"Is crime excessive there? Not really for that kind of population," Arroyo said.
Arroyo said a high concentration of families live at the apartments and that many inflated crime statistics can be attributed to family disputes. He said domestic violence is a particularly common crime at the apartments.
Arroyo also said recent violent crime at the apartments cannot define the entire complex, although there is a heightened awareness due to the recent homicide.
"We don't look at these statistics as particularly alarming, like 'holy cow, we've really got to look at this,'" Arroyo said."

Things have not changed I see in the 8 yrs since I left or should I say got out of there as fast as I could! The Mansards would not have a 50% rating had it not been for the Management written reviews.
In the 70's Early 80's it was a 90 % place to live, but after it was sold I don't know what happened.I lived there twice 1978-1980 - 2001- 2002 it was like landing on a different planet.
I remember when every car (I think after 4 or 5 pm} that came through had to have a sticker and if not you had to say who you were visiting and the guard would call them, line of cars or not.

The Mansards was a really nice place to stay ay one tome, now with new owners, manangement and section8 they dont have a chance to recovering, this was said to me by a current employee when I came in to apply for an apartment one week ago. Don't get me wrong I love their clubhouse but the actual apartment was unbelievable, old cabinets, carpet and let me mention the 1960's appliances, I thank the employee who told me where to go and find a quality place for my money, she knows who she is. Dont be fooled by the model apartment or the web pictures. Please do your research you might not get lucky like me by getting the truth from their employee's.

It's one thing to have a genuine issue with an apartment complex. I believe that many of these posters do have real and serious problems with their apartments and other things. However, it's another thing to tell complete untruths. Mice, ants, and roaches? No, a complete lie. Old cabinets, carpet, 1960's appliances? Again, a complete lie. Trashy Section 8 renters? Litter? Illinois license plates? Crime (although it's greatly exaggerated by some posters)? YES. Also, I highly doubt an employee told someone not to rent here. From what I've been told, the rental agents get a commission for each signed lease. And from the way our agent called us again and again after our application was approved, I'd say this was true.
