Hampton In Highland can be a pleasant experience, or not, it all depends on your particular building and of course, your needs.
Some of the negative issues are....
# 1. Kids, kids, and bebe's kids running and playing in the parking lot, on the stairways, and in the hall ways. There are also kids riding their bikes and skateboarding on the tennis courts. They sit on their stairs, slam doors in the hallways, and leave trash everywhere. My building is one of the nicer ones but I have been in two other building where kids run all over the place without any parents in sight.
#2. The Management is courteous and helpful but only up until you move in. They are responsive however they tend to be rude and condescending, I have been here for two years and this has always been my experience with them. They are no where near as friendly as they are when you see the models.
They are always reminding you what the rules are and what the lease says, but always in a condescending almost scolding kind of way. I have heard things like, "you know according to your lease you will have to clean the carpets and pay for each individual stain", "only one vehicle may be parked in front of the building, violating these rules leads to unhappy tenants", etc.
Look for yourself at some of the memos posted in the buildings, you will see that "bossy" tone. I am not in the fifth grade and they are not my mother, it's okay to enforce the rules but I think they forget they are dealing with adults and need to talk to us as such.
Positive things....
#1. Maintenance is very responsive and respond within 24 hours if not the same day. The buildings are clean and in very good condition and repair. The floors are pretty soundproof although the walls not so much.
#2. The facilities are very nice like the pool and clubhouse. It is also very close to stores and good schools.
If you want to move here, check it out for yourself. Maybe you want to sign a short term lease befor you commit to a whole year. I guess it's better than a lot of places and it think the higher price is worth it. Hamptons is about a $100 more than many of the other complexes but I think that helps to weed out some of the more ghetto people.
However, don't think that the office staff is as nice as they seem. As soon as you move in they will show their true colors. So if you are comfortable with your mother yelling at you all the time, then I guess you won't mind. Also, bike storage is not really secure.
