My experiences at Hampton in Highland

The nicest thing I can say about my experience with Hampton in Highland is it's a waste of your money. They think they are a lot better then they actually are. I am currently sitting in my apartment which is 80 degrees because I live on the third floor and they have not yet turned on the air conditioning, even though I pay the electric bill. This is just one of the many complaints I have had with this apartment complex.
We have been here for over 3 years and it gets worse every year. Thankfully we have to ability to leave when our lease is up. Complaining doesn't help. We have talked to the people in the office (who are far from friendly) and complained about the washers and dryers. I am still waiting to be reimbursed from the dryer taking my money not to mention the marks the dryer has left on numerous articles of my clothing. After complaining multiple times nothing has been done.
Parking is another problem. If you don't mind walking a good 500 ft. to get to your apartment complex then this is the place for you.
Every year your rent will be raised a good percent and I am still trying to figure out what I have this year that I didn't have last year.
If you have a question about a policy or procedure don't waste your time going to the office. We had a complaint that no one in the office could help us with. They also don't have all their rules in writing so when you ask to see where it says what they tell you it says they can't prove it to you and keep giving you someone else to deal with, and of course they don't know the answer either. It is kind of hard to prove an answer they pulled out of thin air.
We had a leak in the roof of our apartment that caused water to soak our floor every time it rained. It took a few weeks for them to finally fix the problem, and we're still not sure about the damage it caused under the carpet.
The outside noise is not a problem at all. Overall, it is pretty quiet around the complex. Inside the apartment is another story. Every morning I can hear my neighbor urinating as I am getting ready to take a shower.
These are just a few of the problems we have experienced. As a renter for 6 years I have had much better experiences elsewhere
Overall, we have not had a very good experience with Hampton in Highland and I can' wait to see how much of our security deposit they take.

I've been a resident of Hampton Apts. for nearly a year. For the most part I am pleased. Recently, I've notice an upsurge in the amount of bugs in the apt. This I am sure is due to the fact that I am so low to the first floor. They're mainly outdoor bugs that have found their way in. I agree that the management office staff aren't very friendly folks once you're a tenant. Their attitude becomes that of, "You better be glad I'm here to serve you...now take it or leave it". I've never lived anyplace where the office staff had this type of attitude. So, once I experienced it the first time, I was in quite a bit of shock and thought, I can't wait until my lease is up. If it is service with a smile you are looking for, FORGET IT!!!!! That same sentiment seems to ring true for a great deal of tenants here. Other than that, I like the apartment. It is very roomy for the price. Unlike what some people have posted here, I've found the grounds are kept up very well...the same for interior common areas. Maintenance requests are responded to in a timely fashion...although not with such a nice attitude when placing request with office staff. I've found their maintenance staff to always be very friendly. I've never had any issues with parking...there's always plenty of space available. Laundry area is always clean. I'll see how they handle this recent ant problem we're having...the ants are everywhere in the apartment!!!
