It started out ok but then got worse

I signed with Ashton Brook at a time in my life when I was single and ready for living on my own. The place was newly renovated, taken over from the section-8 crowd to just the average joe. I liked the layout, and the roominess of it. However, it was pure hades from the day I moved in.
First of all, the day I was ready do my walkthrough the day before moving in per their telling me when it was going to be ready was a joke. I walked in to find them still cleaning the place! And the back yard was a mess with trees, weeds as high as the fence, thorns, and even a pot stuck in between the drain pipe and the ground.
When I did move in the next day, I still had the yard to deal with. I eventually paid to have the trees removed and for everything out there to be gutted. But that first week alone, I had half the power go out for no apparent reason on one side of my living room, and the corridor lights outside my front door were blinking.
I was fortunate to have a friend who was part of the maintenance staff, but he was rarely called to me place (and believe me, I had to request their help many times!). The sliding door handle broke 3 times, once because the screw was stripped, and the other times the handle was too small. The grating where the return register was was kept unpainted and not even attached to the wall until nearly 2 years had gone by! The drain was so slow in the tub that it would back up a lot and cause the toilet to do the same. My biggest thing was the BUGS. I had these awful centipedes that invaded the place every few weeks, and they were all over the walls. It was so gross, and I constantly had exterminators over to solve that problem temporarily. These weren't bugs you could live with, believe me. They sometimes were as long as one of my fingers, and they were hairy-looking and fast devils. I was told that they were silver fish, and that there weren't anything to worry about. But I looked it up on the Internet and found them to be centipedes that could even bite!!
The other bad thing was with the neighbors. At first, I had really good ones. Then they all moved, and I was stuck with a guy across from me who used to crank his music up all night, keeping me from sleeping. Plus, he had a dog that barked, and who one day pushed open my door when it was ajar and attacked one of my pet birds.
This same neighbor was definitely on drugs, and all my complaints to the office seemed to not really do much. I would file, they would sign and send a letter to him, and nothing would change. I found out that the people above him were also doing drugs and they were evicted. It was all such a nightmare, and I was so anxious to be out of there when my husband and I got married and built a home. But even that was a problem when I was moving because I was told that the stains I had on my carpet were requiring that I pay for them to replace the entire carpet for the whole apartment, because I was told that they couldn't purchase just swatch and have it match the rest of the dwelling. Having a friend who works in the carpet industry, she knew that was false, and we tried everything in our power to get out of paying, but in the end we still had to.
I was just so disgusted with how rude, cold, and sleasy the management staff was. The first management was decent, and then they changed "for the better" but it was only temporary. Once they made nice with everyone, they seemed greedy and not friendly. When I had to do my final walkthrough, I had cleaned the carpet best as I could so that I might be able to get away from paying for it, from what they said. Well, they sneaked over there before I even got there and made up their minds about it before I even got there!
The bottom-line is, I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. I would have a few years ago, but not now. It is all too ghetto, trashy, scary, and overpriced for nothing now.

I find it hysterical that this person had such a horrible time living at Ashton Brook as they said so, but lived there for three years. Personally if I had experiecned such bad service and my apartment horrible from the get go, I would not have even stayed one year let alone three like this person said they had lived there. Obviously it wasn't as bad as they try to make it out to be or else they would not have stayed as long.

Moving isn't a fun thing to do, especially for a single individual. Since they were getting married beforehand, it was probably much easier to rough it out instead of moving an extra time beforehand.
I think the yard stuff you went a little overboard on though, but Amen about those bugs! They told us the same thing and after doing our own research we found out what you did! CREEPY creepy crawlies!
