Great Place...One of the best in Indy!

I lived at Avalon Lake for four years, moving out to a "nicer, newer, more expensive place" in Fishers (Amli at Conner Farms). That was a big mistake. Nothing compares to the apartment layouts, a private mailbox, nice neighbors and the effort the management makes to keep the property looking nice, despite its age. In the four years I was there (1999-2003), the management and maintenance staff never changed...NO TURNOVER! That's pretty incredible for an apartment complex.

I've learned that more expensive and newer do not mean better. I've been released from my current lease at AMLI because of the constant problems I've had in only a year.

I lived at Avalon Lake Apartments for only one year and had problems from the beginning. They shut off the water 3 times. Only the first time was I warned at it was only the night before. It had nothing to do with my payments because I was always on time with them. I had problems with my garbage desposal, mailbox and door and they only fixed my desposal. They let my dog out when they went into my apartment without permission.I had a boyfriend the last few months I was there who abused me. They gave me a strike against my lease because I was disturbing the peace for my neighbors.Like I wasn't supposed to scream when he was hurting me. I tried to get out of my lease early so I wrote them a long note which stated that I was 4 months pregnant and that I had to leave because I didn't feel safe. I had to get my locks changed and have a police escort. They wouldn't let me out the last month. So I moved out and payed for two months when I wasn't living there. My last day I brought the keys to the leasing office and thought I was done with the apt. Almost two weeks later they call me and tell me that I have to come in and fill out a vacate form. I go in there and they tell me I am responsible for the month of July because I didn't write a 30-day written notice stating I wouldn't be living there any longer. When I did write a note to them two months in advace stating all of this and the reasons for my departure. So we call a leasing manager that was out of town and she never called back withe the information. My father had to call her back and she said that their lawyers said that I was responsible. I had to get a cash advance from my employer to pay for this. Money that I don't have since I"m expecting a child and doing it on my own. I give them a check for $550.00. Now they are sending it back stating that I'm responsible for the lease agreement up to August 13,2006. My lease ended June 30,2006. They returned my check and said they couldn't except it. Let me tell you that this place is the most horrible place to live. I can not believe the rudeness they have shown me. Do yourself a a favor and go across the street and live at the Willows or find another place to live. They will just screw you over and not care one bit that they are taking hard earned money from you. I'm planning to take legal action. For all the stress they have put me through they don't deserve any money whatsoever.Believe me I will make it known to everyone not to go there.
