Not Bad

I've lived in Beechmill for about a year and must say that its not as bad as some posts are making it out to be.

Good:
The office staff is always helpful whenever we call them. They hold packages for us and are helpful in letting us know what is going on with the complex. We have never had a problem with maintenence. Every time we've called for any service the problem we had was addressed immediately. The rent is much cheaper than other apartments around. We have a two bedroom apartment and a carport for only 588. Thats less than the one bedrooms at a couple of complexes around the area. The location is good with quick access to 31 and all the stores, restaurants, and the mall around the corner. We have never had a problem with any other tennents as everyone seems to be very friendly - or at least keep to themselves for the most part. There were often people to play basketball or volleyball with in the summer. There is plenty of parking infront of my building and there seems to be enough parking throughout the complex for people who visit. The pool was very nice and well kept and never too crowded to use. The sand volleyball court right next to it was a nice touch as well.

The bad:
The apartments are quite a bit older than most other apartments around. However, they have been pretty well upkept. The appliances in the kitchen in our unit were all pretty old - I'm guessing from about the early 80's. The microwave and stove even have those old rotating timers that you can see rotate down to zero when in use. But, even though they are old they work just fine. The dishwasher was also pretty old and did break while we were there. But the staff had a brand new top-of-the-line all digital dishwasher replaced in our unit about 7 days after we reported the malfunction. Which is pretty reasonable considering it takes some time to order a new one and installation and all that. They did not allow our unit to have a sattelite dish (I think because our porch faced the parking lot and they didn't wan't dishes to be seen by people driving through) which sucked because comcast cable pretty much had a monopoly on tv and internet service and continually screwed us - but that had nothing to do with the apartment complex. Also, the complex never put together any activities or had get-togethers for the tennents, at least none that I was aware of. Just recently they notified us that the tennents would have to start paying a fee for water and sewage, which we had never had to do in the past. Not sure how that works since we signed a lease under the assumption that we did not have to pay that, but whatever we only have two months left on the lease.

The people:
This apartment complex houses mostly families with children. Often there are children running around and playing in the parking lots, pool, and the little park that is on the property. I would be wary of this apartment complex if you are still in school or are a young professional and might possibly make some noise or stay out late on the weekends - it is definetly a complex suited for families. We got lucky because the people around us happened to be really cool as we did have some people over once or twice and stayed up late.
