Do NOT live here

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
From the time we moved in until the time we moved out (1 year), we had nothing but problems. Our apartment was dirty when we moved in. The cabinets were sticky, the carpet was dirty, shelves were dusty, and no matter how much we cleaned them, we could never put our glasses in the cabinets upside down. The entryways were always filthy as well.
Our dishwasher left a crusty film on our dishes constantly, and every time we called maintenance, they ran some sort of cleaner through the dishwasher. It would then work for 2 or 3 loads, and then it would go right back to the way it was. After 4 times, we finally gave up and started washing our dishes by hand.
We also had a maintenance person who lived downstairs from us and told us all about how the women in the office were making nasty comments about us the day before, and one particular staff member was blatantly rude to us any time we walked in the door. How catty and unprofessional.
Upon move out, my roommate did walk through with the manager and she charged us for the bathroom countertops because they were chipped. They reglaze these countertops, and the chipping was normal wear and tear. What was I doing' Purposely dropping sharp heavy objects on it' Is it my fault somehow if they chip in a year's use' We were charged $45.00 to replace them.
Early in the lease, there was ceiling leak that dripped water all over my bedroom floor. They had to come out twice to fix the leak, and never came out to fix my nasty water stained ceiling that was growing mildew by the time we moved out.
After moveout, even though we had a signed walk through that said that the countertops were the only problem, they came after us for another $369 to replace the carpet. Our calls to the office went unreturned, then our calls to the management company went unreturned for over a month. We have finally decided to just resolve this, because unfortunately apartment complexes have managed somehow to be unaccountable for anything. I really hope no one else has to go through what we went through with this place.
