Maintenance

The worse thing about living here is the maintenace. When I first moved in they forgot the fixtures for the stove and I could not cook. This did not seem like a big problem to them so they took three days to fix it. There was no blind up in my bedroom window so I had no privacy this took two days to fix. The light and plug fixtures were not on and this took two days to fix. The screen to the balcony was broke when I moved in and I have been here for a year and it still is broke. This all happened the first week I was there. I recommend that if you have a maintenance problem go to the office and have the staff call maintenance and wait there for them to come and walk them to your apartment and stay over them to make sure they complete the job because this is the only way you can get immediate service. When you move in they give you a check sheet to go around the apartment to see if there is anything wrong with so when you move out you do not have to pay for it.

Parking

There are enough parking spaces but it is not lit. If you want to park under the car port it is an extra 15 dollars a month which is ridiculous. No one pays the 15 dollars so everyone parks under the car ports.

Noise level

Compared to other places I have lived the nosie level is okay. You can only hear someone if they are extremly loud. I live on the second floor with no one directly above me so noise has not been a problem for me.

Grounds

They keep the grounds pretty clean. They allow pets so you have to watch your step when you walk in the grass. The have lights outside each apartment to light the walk way but they are on from 6 at night to 6 in the morning. In the winter time it is still dark after 6 in the morning but you can still manage.

Quality of the Apartments

Make sure you look at the exact apartment you are going to move into not a model. There are a lot of different styles of apartments. Some have this big desk/closet right in the living room with is very unattractive. My apartment does not have this thing. I have a bar in the kitchen which is very nice. I live in one of the apartments that have new appliances and cabinets in them but I have very old light fixtures.

Office Staff

The office staff is not extremly helpful but they are very nice.

Tennis court

When I first moved in I ask were they going to fix the tennis court (because there is a dip about 1 foot deep 2 feet wide and 20 feet long) and they said they would but this was a year ago and nothing has happened.

Pool

The pool looks nice on hot days and is very cold and refreshing but last year it was closed 3 times because of problems. These were the only three times they cleaned the pool. It does not get crowded and there is no life guard so it is only open office hours with is okay.

Laundry room

There is a laundry room with about 20 washers and dryers. It hardly ever gets cleaned but thats okay because beleive it or not people actually clean up after themselves. Sometimes they have specials and its only a quarter to wash and dry your clothes.

Weight room

The weight room has a universal gym with almost all of the parts there. Its open office hours because its in the club house. There is one exercise bike (probable the first one ever made) but it gets the job done. There is one other piece of equipment but I do not no what it is or what it does because it has always been broken and they have not removed it. Everytime I go over there I am the only person there so it does not get crowded at all. Overall if you do not have time to go to your gym you can still get a decent workout.

Park

There is a "park" with 4 swings 1 slide a jungle gym and a couple of benches. Its great for kids who do not understand quality.

Neighbors

All of my neighbors have been really nice. Although there was a group of young teenagers that move in across from me and caused a little trouble with the police but they are gone. I do not know if they moved or if they are in jail. There are very few kids out here that are terrible. They go around using fowl language and disturbing the peace but in general the kids are just like any other kids. (If you dont like kids do not move out here because there are a lot I mean a lot of kids).

Location

Brookwood is about 2 minutes from the University of Indianapolis. (I went there for a year). Its about 15 minutes from downtown and IUPUI (I have been there for 2 years and will be finished in just 1 year YES!). It is 10 miutes from Greenwood and 465 is so close I can here the wind of the cars going by (not really but its just across the street.

Price

The best time to move in is when there is a special usually during the summer. I moved in when there was 300 dollars off the first months rent and because I am a college student I did not have to pay the application fee and I get a discount on my monthly rent. All I ahd to pay for in total to mone in was 235 dollars (100 dollars was the deposit). Also when I moved in they had just lowered the monthly rental rate by 100 dollars.(but since then they have added the hundred dollars back on). The girl that lives across from me we have the same aparment but I pay 435 dollars and she pays 649. I got a good deal.

Summary

I think this is a great apartment for college students or people trying to save to buy a house (I fit into both of these categories). I
