Ive never before been so miserable at an apartment community or felt like I was a prisoner in my own home. The kids here are awful, rude and disrespectful and they learned it from their parents. They have nothing to do because there is no playground or activities and Ive witnessed them walking around vandalizing property. Ive seen a kid throw beer bottles down from his balcony at the cars below! Most of the people that live here are ill mannered and trashy. With the office staff, it really depends on who you talk to and when you talk to them. They always seem like they are really busy and only a few of them actually take the time to listen. I dont think they get along very well either. Maintanence is the same way, a few good ones and some really really bad ones. It got so bad this summer that I had to put in, no less than 5 service requests for my AC. Sometimes no one ever showed up and then other times I was left with a paper that said it was fine, and then contradicting themselves I was left with the final paper that said they were sending someone else out to fix it. After a few days with no one showing I ended up going to the office to talk with someone personally. The lady in the back office "asked" me to talk to one of the girls out of her office because "that wasnt her job." Not said straight out, but definately implied. The girl I spoke with was really nice and she actually came to my apartment and felt the air for herself. She said she was going to send over the maintenance manager and was very apologetic. After 4 hours of waiting I had to leave, when I came home that night, it was still the same. I couldnt even sleep in my bedroom. I ended up on the couch right below the AC, with the fan blowing on high all night. I went back to the office the next morning and spoke with the same girl who claimed she had sent the maintenance manager over. She ended up calling him and asked him to come up to the office. When he got there he didnt know I was there and was really rude to the office staff too! He said that the AC was working fine and that Its hot outside and the AC isnt going to blow out any colder air. Which really pissed me off becuase my neighbor/friend has cold air blowing from her AC so why not me' When I spoke up his attitude changed and he started trying to explain how an AC works. He was very condescending and I could tell he was blowing me off. It didnt matter to me how an AC worked I knew damn good and well that I was hot in my apartment and wasnt interested in a lesson on AC's. I refused to accept his explanation and was utterly amazed at his persistance in trying to convince me that I had to live like that. I told him that the last service request said that someone else was going to come out and fix it. He then said he would schedule me an appointment for tomorrow. The next day I had to call back to the office to ask when someone was going to be out and the office didnt know anything about it. I had to cause a big scene until the girl that helped me the day before interrupted and called maintanence. Maintenance said that the company wouldnt make it out today but that it would be first thing in the morning! I felt like I was beating my head against a brick wall to get anything done. A guy did come the following day and looked at it. Very quickly he confirmed it wasnt working properly- just like that, I had a sane person! He explained what was wrong, and I told him what Id been through. then said that "Honestly maintenance shouldve been able to fix it, sometimes they would rather pay us to do it if its a timely job" Thats when I realized how to get things done around here. Demand vaild answers and hold people accountable. I ended up getting a credit on my account for going almost 3 weeks without AC, but even that came down to me threatening to call corporate office. Top it off with trashy, nasty people and I dont care if the rent is cheap. Luckily I have a great neighbor, but there isnt enough of us either. MOST of the people that live here are as bad as MOST of the people that work here. I feel out of place here and I dont understand how people can live like they do and talk like they were raised by criminals. It could be really nice, the apartment isnt too bad ( if they had central air ) and got better maintenance staff, and did something about who they let live here or at least babysitting the trash that lives here. Im out of here when April rolls around, Martinique Terrace down the street is a little more expensive, but im willing to pay the difference! I hate to focus on the negative, but there just isnt enough positive people here to out weigh the bad. Im not an irrational person, I simply expect a certain standard and Brookwood doesnt live up to my standards. Oh.. and make sure you see the apartment you are renting BEFORE paying your deposit. The model has central air, of course, but the rest of the apartments dont. Kinda sneeky isnt it.

My insulation in my Brookwood apartment was very poor- when they "installed" new lining in the doorway it was falling off within two weeks. You are right about seeing the exact unit you will be renting though.
