Lived here for two years now on the 4th floor canal side, and will vacate in a few months due the significant price increase and manifestation of bugs. No matter how much you spray Raid or ask the apartment complex to professionally spray, the bugs keep coming back. They will always cohabitate with you here. Get used to the bugs. Once you are used to the bugs, this place is a great place to live. Maintenance requests - next day service, and usually fixed on the first attempt. However, my toilet has been broken for the last 8 months, and I've had maintenance in three times to no success of fixing the constrant draining. So, I've given up and let it constantly run since I don't pay the water bill. A good thing about this place is the apartment pays the water bill...not your responsibility. A perk is you have a parking space that is usually waiting for you to pull-up. If someone else is occupying it, you can have the car towed within minutes and your reserved spot is now yours again. Also, the management (well manager) knows every tenants names, and addresses you by your name. She is friendly, but the others are undesirable. Only deal with the manager...she knows the complex and doesn't lie. You can hear your neighbors, but it's not any worse than other apt. complexes. The Vermont side is more quiet than the New York side. My impression is that the complex tries to throw the partiers on New York Street and the more studious students and professionals on Vermont Street. Now, I don't know if that is actually the case, it is just what I've observed. One more - people who do not live in the complex roam the apartment building and dumpster hunt. At 5 a.m., you can always find people dumpster hunting - be careful of what you put in the dumpsters. Overall, if price remained the same, I'd live here another year.
One warning of caution - Check out crime statistics before moving in here and any other place: http://imaps.indygov.org/cvc/
