While I can not in good faith say that some things you will read on this site are not true, I will tell you don't believe all you read. I choose not to live in a house and deal with fixing things and yard work. This is MY home so please stop all the bad mouthing of it. First.. Office staff. In the 23 years I have seen more changes then you can imagine but I personally have never had a confrontation with anyone. Everyone has always treated me polite and with respect but thats the way I treat people as well. I pay my rent,keep my home clean and when my children were growing up I made sure they were doing what they were supposed too. I follow the rules and have no problems. Maintenance...Again many many
faces although a few are long term. When I have a problem I report it immediatly and only twice have I been disappointed with the results.Most of the workers through the years have been competent and very very courtious towards me. Tenants... Thats a BIG shift in change. When I moved here a lot of white collar folks and a waiting list. These apartments were pricy then but huge and we had a large family. People kept their areas clean I never saw trash everywhere like it is today.They kept their children in line, and had a sence of community pride that I just don't see today. Crime... is truely everywhere and yes there have been many incidents here but again I don't invite that type of problem into my life or home and random things happen anywhere I may go. In the years I have lived here I raised 4 children'lost a husband,remarried,became a grandmother,and built many memories to cherish all in MY HOME. So please stop saying its all bad and that noone decent lives here. I live here ,some truely good friends and neighbors live here, and I look forward to many more years and memories in MY HOME.

No, i'm sorry, 99.9% of everything written IS TRUE about this hell hold!!! IT IS NOT SAFE!!! The murders, rapes, fires, multiple daily police visits all tell that story. Yes, there may be a few good eggs here, however, noone is saying that no good people live here. They are saying that this place in a whole is HORRIBLE and they are right. Rent, as of today, is offically lower then the ghetto area on the southeast side because people are more afraid to live here then there. THIS PLACE SUCKS and too be honest, the police, government, anybody with a conscience or a heart should not allow anyone with a family or young kids to move in here. IT IS DANGEROUS!!!!! Leave when/while you can.

In the Very short time I lived here there were things that happened that were out of my control. I did not invite or incourage any of this violence into my home nor around my 2 very small children...Weather you choose to belive it or not this community is dangerous. Someone (managment,residents,government,police?) who do you hold responseable? I will not take responsability for some punk kids whom I do not know shooting in the parking lot. When 3 stray bullets comming into my apartmentond 4 stray bullets damaging mine as well as my husbands vehicles. The complex calls it vandalizum I call it no home training..now not only do I have to feel unsafe in MY HOME I have to Repair our vehicles which belive me it is not cheep. Yes, I could have turned it into yes insurance but with the police not catching the kids who did it the only thing that it will cost me outside of the deductable would be higher rates because without the culpret the is no one to make restitution so once again I HAVE TO PAY for the actions of someone else So I ask you, Whi has to take responsability? Me, You, Cottages, Police, Politians, Who?

I do agree volence is everwhere. The hearts of men, women and children seem to be getting worse as each day passes. You see it in the behavior and attitudes mankind. The Golden Rule doesn't apply anymore. Concerning the apartments: We are still residence here, have been for the past 7 years. I have seen alot. Is it a beautiful place to the eyes? Yes it is. Is it a safe place to live with children. No it is not. Just in the past 3 months, in the front of the property, there have been people that have answered their doors, had a gun held to their heads, then tied up, beat up and robbed. Some in broad daylight, some at night. Another gentleman resident said to me, he was walking his trash to the dumpster [during the day], a person put a gun into his back and wanted his money and jewelry. The young teens are hanging out at the childrens park, tearing up the equipment and being in the way of the smaller children as they play. With no requard or respect to the adults there with their smaller children. It's a crying shame!! The Golden Rule doesn't apply anymore. Concerning the staff: Not all of the staff members have the 'control' to make changes in what happens here at the property. So it is unfair to say the whole staff of The Cottages are at fault here. I do however believe that the ones that do, including the owners of the property, need to be more connected to the "needs" [not wants] and "safety" of the people living in the property. I recently searched in the "registry for sex offenders" of my neighborhood and found we have 1 sex offender living in this apartment complex. I recieved no notification from the staff about this. I believe that falls under the "needs and saftey" catagory. On another note, we have one way in this apartment community and one way out. We could really use a guard gate or electronic gate to be used by the electronic key card, we have to pay $25 for, to use our "free" amineties. There are plenty of gated communities out there. We NEED one, at the owners expense. Customer Serve is not what it used to be. Concerning most of the residence: I have attended 3 or 4 of the neighborhood crime watch meetings. The first meeting was awesome. Very large turn out. Unfortunatly it turned into a session of complaining about the office instead of focusing on the problems, which was going to involve everyones participation. They wanted, wanted, wanted, but no one wanted to participate. No one wants to open their windows or come out of their houses and meet their neighbors. No one wants to keep an eye on their children and teens or their neighbors children, no one wants to keep an eye on stangers that might come into their neighborhoods that would be a threat to the community. That's to much effort. That's a problem. We live in a "give me and "drive-thru" society. The Golden Rule and Customer Service doesn't apply anymore. We've got big problems. United we stand or divided we will fall.

I'm sorry to say that Yes you might be a good person. but Cottages is ghetto. Some people like it. Others have no choice in the matter because they are trying to get out from over their heads. Cottages is a trash place. Don't believe me call the police department and ask them which apartment complexes thay have the most visits to. Cottages is going to be near the top. They will advise you not to move there and they will be happy about it. I have family that lives 10 minutes from cottages and they don't have any of the problems that they do. If you want to live there good for you, but most people dont like worrying about getting shot or mugged on the way to thier car! And God forbid if you leave the door unlocked when you come home from work! I even had someone try to push my door opened while we were on the couch. My dogs started barking and scared them away! Thank god for my ----- god that will eat anyone that comes into my house.
