There is nothing worse than paying 750 for a living space that as a whole is only worth 350--First, my car gets vandilized,I tell the manager and am told that is what car insurance is for. Fine, no problem. Then I get a letter in my door saying that they have captured a suspect in a random shooting/homicide I had NO CLUE ABOUT--which is the sixth "gun-shots fired" problem we have had since I moved in this year. Not to mention the SWAT team telling me that I am not to leave my apartment for the rest of the night unless it is an absolute emergency--the second time any security defense team (other than the police)have been out since july ( the other was DEA and the sheriff's dept.). No fire works allowed for my kids because someone else put them in the door slots the preious year. The 5 phone calls I have made for the same leaking faucet that no one from the office has returned my call about yet- I am so far beyond done with this place that I will be paying the $1500 it is going to cost to break my lease a few months early. I will not tell anyone not to move here, however I will say that if you like a hell of a lot of action, and like to pay a nice chunk of change for a decent living space despite the promised security patrol officers, which are non-existant,the rules and regulations preventing residents from TRYING to enjoy their homes not to mention the time wasted trying to get someone out to fix anything--this is the place to be!

I've never had any problems over here at all. Yeah the rent is a little pricey. I could pay 850 a month for a house. But it's not a bad neighborhood for a bachelor

I do agree volence is everwhere. The hearts of men, women and children seem to be getting worse as each day passes. You see it in the behavior and attitudes mankind. The Golden Rule doesn't apply anymore. Concerning the apartments: We are still residence here, have been for the past 7 years. I have seen alot. Is it a beautiful place to the eyes? Yes it is. Is it a safe place to live with children. No it is not. Just in the past 3 months, in the front of the property, there have been people that have answered their doors, had a gun held to their heads, then tied up, beat up and robbed. Some in broad daylight, some at night. Another gentleman resident said to me, he was walking his trash to the dumpster [during the day], a person put a gun into his back and wanted his money and jewelry. The young teens are hanging out at the childrens park, tearing up the equipment and being in the way of the smaller children as they play. With no requard or respect to the adults there with their smaller children. It's a crying shame!! The Golden Rule doesn't apply anymore. Concerning the staff: Not all of the staff members have the 'control' to make changes in what happens here at the property. So it is unfair to say the whole staff of The Cottages are at fault here. I do however believe that the ones that do, including the owners of the property, need to be more connected to the "needs" [not wants] and "safety" of the people living in the property. I recently searched in the "registry for sex offenders" of my neighborhood and found we have 1 sex offender living in this apartment complex. I recieved no notification from the staff about this. I believe that falls under the "needs and saftey" catagory. On another note, we have one way in this apartment community and one way out. We could really use a guard gate or electronic gate to be used by the electronic key card, we have to pay $25 for, to use our "free" amineties. There are plenty of gated communities out there. We NEED one, at the owners expense. Customer Serve is not what it used to be. Concerning most of the residence: I have attended 3 or 4 of the neighborhood crime watch meetings. The first meeting was awesome. Very large turn out. Unfortunatly it turned into a session of complaining about the office instead of focusing on the problems, which was going to involve everyones participation. They wanted, wanted, wanted, but no one wanted to participate. No one wants to open their windows or come out of their houses and meet their neighbors. No one wants to keep an eye on their children and teens or their neighbors children, no one wants to keep an eye on stangers that might come into their neighborhoods that would be a threat to the community. That's to much effort. That's a problem. We live in a "give me and "drive-thru" society. The Golden Rule and Customer Service doesn't apply anymore. We've got big problems. United we stand or divided we will fall.
