I moved out a few months ago after calling Crooked Creek home for 8 years. I definitely feel qualified to write this review.

In the beginning, and I'd say probably up until around 2005, this was a pretty nice community. The grounds were well kept, and the maintenance personnel on hand were very good. Sometime in 2005 they lost their lead maintenance guy, and things quickly changed for the worse. Crooked Creek's management team had changed a few times since 1999, but I didn't notice anything to be troubled about until 2005. Around this time a lady named Teresa took over as manager and things quickly went downhill.

I noticed the grounds were not kept as nice. As mentioned in an earlier review, I also had trouble getting my car out of a parking space after a significant snow in Feb of '07. My problem though was that my car was actually plowed under by whomever was clearing it away. In addition, what I took for granted before was no longer occuring around the complex. No salt for the icy sidewalks. The condition of the three hallways inside my building was deteriorating. The grounds in general were not nearly as nice as they used to be. I was pretty low maintenance when it came to my own maintenance problems. I usually fixed stuff up myself. I can't really comment on that too much except to say that the lead maintenance guy (Tom) that they used to employ was top notch. If you had a problem you couldn't rectify yourself, he'd take care of it in a very timely fashion. Also, I laughed when reading about an earlier review complaining about having notices left on his door from one of the assistants on Crooked Creek's staff informing him of some back dated debt he owed. I also had that happen to me two times in the last year I was there. After making an initial call inquiring about what the hell they were talking about, I quickly realized the staffs organizational skills currently working there were non-existent. Even if I had not found a job out of state, the above aforementioned example of incompetency had already convinced me not to renew my lease for a ninth year at Crooked Creek.

Another thing I started noticing was the number of vacant apartments in my building. I found out later that this was not something that was happening in just my building, but in the vast majority of the buildings at Crooked Creek. The clientele in the community was also changing. I remember when I first moved in it seemed to house a fairly high percentage of professionals. For whatever reasons, that definitely changed over the years.

Anyway, I moved out when I took another job out of state this past summer. I noticed that the management team had changed once again upon leaving, and hopefully she can help turn the situation there back around. The one good thing I can say about Crooked Creek is that in 8 years my two bedroom apartment there only increased in rent by $45/month. It started at $650, and the last year I was there went for $695. All in all, that seems pretty normal to me. As much as I'd like to recommend Crooked Creek after living there for 8 years, the last two years or so I was there prevent me from doing so, which is a shame. From 1999 thru 2004, it was a pretty nice community.
