Nicer and quieter than your typical complex

Unless you're unlucky and wind up with noisy, inconsiderate neighbors, which can and will happen in any apartment living experience, there really isn't anything bad about living at Darby Court. It IS truly the least ghetto of the surrounding Speedway complexes, and the nicest of the Sexton properties. My friend lived in Lakeside Village, and the reviews are correct, it's terrible. My aunt and grandma lived at Darby for four years, no complaints. When my aunt got married and moved to the neighboring, more run-down Sebring Court, she said she wished she'd have stayed at Darby, it was worth the extra money. Just look at the difference in the cars and the people coming and going--enough said.

The maintenance issues I had (problems with the security system, an accidentally cracked bedroom window) were fixed right away. My appliances worked just fine, and mine seemed relatively new, not noticeably old and in need of replacement, like in some complexes. Loved having the washer/dryer in unit. The pool was clean. Snow removal was prompt, never an issue. Sometimes on weekends I'd have to park a few spaces further due to my neighbors' company, but there was never a complete lack of parking.

I only had to deal with the change in the trash policy for a few months before I moved out, and it was slightly more inconvenient than having a trash can right outside your apt, but not a hassle. I didn't really get to know any of the new management the other reviewer mentioned, so maybe that would be something to get a good feel for before moving in. It would be a shame if a couple of new, bad employees ruined what used to be a good place to live!

I did only get about a third of my deposit back when I moved. They charged me for apt and kitchen cleaning, and furniture removal because I left a chair on the balcony. But I was prepared for that (my own laziness), and really didn't care. The fact that they didn't take ALL the money was good enough for me.
