Don't be too quick to sign a lease.

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
We moved into Darby Court in the summer of '08, signing a one year lease. We have not had any major problems living here, but then again we have not necessarily had any good experiences to make us want to stay once the lease is up. For the positive aspects - It is generally a clean, quiet community, but that easily depends on which unit you live in. We got new neighbors and now hear the doors slam a lot. The outside wall shakes when the door opens and closes. That is the max of the noise though. I hardly ever hear anything coming from another apartment. The one thing I've noticed the most are the sounds in the wall made by running water, both in our apartment and the ones adjacent to ours. It is a high-pitched squeal. Also, the closet holding the water heater is right by the living room, and odd noises come from there regularly.
There seems to be adequate parking for our building, never had a problem with that. The carpet was nice when we moved in, but it's not easy to keep looking nice, even for clean people like us. Like another reviewer noted, perhaps that's because it is low grade carpet.
NEGATIVES- There is no fitness facility, (which they do not try to be deceptive about) HOWEVER, the "jogging trail", which they tout as a attraction to the community, is A JOKE! It's a mulch-lined, pot-holed path for a few feet on either side of the main drive for appearances, and the rest is simply a grass foot-trodden trail around the perimeter of the apartments. Obviously, not a usable commodity if there is any type of precipitation.
Our view of the unit behind us yields a dumpy scene. Though the whole community is not like this, people do not seem to be required to maintain their own areas to any standard.
In the winter you notice a LOT of drafting around the windows and especially the sliding door to the balcony. The living room is always noticeably colder than the bedrooms.
As a young female, I don't always feel safe in this community. During the day there are usually a lot of maintenance people around, but at night there don't seem to be any type of security rounds made.
Over all, I would still recommend these apartments,(they're good for what they are) but only with a warning to carefully consider everything before signing a lease.
