Pros and Cons

I chose this apartment as it was one of the few I could afford where I didn't feel completely unsafe as I was looking for my first career out of college. Luckily, about 6 months into living here, I was able to secure a job that included travel. So, I only "lived" in my apartment for six months and then during the last six would be there about 3 days out of the month. Those 3 days were enough for me!
Floorplan - uninspired. My unit had a den which I did like, however the units are very dated. Kitchens are a bit depressing. Everything is carpeted or has old linoleum.
Parking - Plenty, but not secured.
Security - Probably the worst part. I never felt safe here and I lived on my own. I had a 3rd floor apartment thankfully. I would never have lived on the first floor. My second floor neighbor was robbed while at work (single female). She left after that. Grounds are pretty dark and with the woods behind many of the buildings, it is hard to feel safe. I was very glad to spend the night away from my home.
Maintenance - I never had a maintenance request while I lived here, however my balcony was so flimsy I refused to go on it. I saw that after I moved out they tore it down and replaced it.
Office Staff - After security, the second worst part. As I was rarely there, I only dealt with them for rent and move-in/out. I was unexpectedly kept out of town for an extra month due to work. I called them to pay my rent over the phone as I was not able to get a check to them in time. They "took" my payment but did not credit me. I ended up getting a late fee as they never posted it or took it out. They refused to refund it. In 10 years of renting it was my only late.
Upon move-out, I payed my last two months rent and signed all the paperwork that I would not be rewnewing. Upon getting my deposit back, they showed that I owed them as I had not paid my last month's rent. I called and told them I had the receipt and asked them to check again. No one would return my calls. I stopped by the office after work (4:30) but each agent would tell me I had to see the manager. He was never there. Long story short, I never got my deposit back. Due to my travel schedule, it just became too hard to try and fight it as the manager would not set up an appointment to speak with you. This is the only apartment from which I've not received my deposit back.
2009 - I now live near this complex, but not in it. They have re-painted the exteriors of the buildings and they look very nice. However, when I drive by it is not unusual to see groups of teenage/20-somethigs hanging around in the parking lots or tennis court area at all hours of the day. You can often see trash and old furniture sitting in front of buildings for days just from Eagle Creek Parkway.

Deercross Oh Deercross Oh how I hate thee. I habe nothing but problems from day one in this poop hole. Ok the apartments are ok but they safety factor is horrible. I was at work one day to come home to my neighbors standing outside my door. I had put in a maintenance request and while 2 was maintenance men were in my apt. my new flat screen tv was stolen. Sounds ironic anyway I went to the office and basically cussed out the manager and maintenance crew. My better half kept me from beating their skulls in because I hate thieves with a passion. Anyway they paid me back for the tv because my neighbors were witnesses to this ridiculous incident. They left the door unlocked while they were in the apartment all the way in the back. They are brilliant. I am in college and this place sucks balls.
