The carpet in my apartment had black marks throughout. I decided to get a cat which ended up having kittens. Prior to that per my lease, I discussed with the Property Manager the condition of the carpet in my apartment. After looking at the condition herself, she determined I only needed to pay the deposit for older carpet.
Upon move out, I received notification of my deposit settlement which indicated the replacement of the carpet and stated I owed $900. I immediately contacted the office to reiterate the condition of the apartment and the terms that were agreed upon. The manager no longer worked there. I understand why, because she failed to document my file which resulted in the charges. I took my claim to the regional manager. Basically he told me too bad!
Long story short--I was turned over to collections because I refused to be the victim of Walden's greed. All of this even after the maintenance team stole my watch and my car was broken in to. The moral here--document, document, document!!!! Better yet, keep driving by, don't stop!
