I'm finally moving from here after staying a year too long. There are several issues with Fishermans Village that I will share with anyone thinking of making this place home. They only rarely maintain the hallways or laundry facilities. If a staircase banister breaks, how does it get fixed' They wrap some rope around it to keep it from falling over and just leave it that way-- for years. Punk kids vomit in the hallway or someone throws a gnawed on chicken bone on the hallway floor, what do they do' Absolutely nothing-- for about a month or so. I am very surprised that this place doesn't have roaches or some other kind of pest with upkeep like that. The apartments are nice enough inside, but the increasing crime in the area and apparently lax criteria for renting here ruin what could be a good apartment complex. Too often here every younger person they lease to moves in every unemployed/semi-employed friend they have. I don't care who you are. If you put 6 or 7 punk kids in an apartment, too much noise will they make. Hallway windows they will break. Exit signs and lighting fixtures they will smash. Fire extinguishers they will spray in the hallway. Fire alarms they will pull at 2AM. You will be advised to not use your storage closet in the hallway because they are routinely broken into (if you see the latch where you put your padlock you will know why, if you have a latch at all, I don't). For God sakes it won't be too many years until this place is a roach infested Section 8 apartment complex. Not everything is the fault of Fishermans Village though, the area here is slowly becoming a slum. Haughville has taken over Speedway, and Fishermans Village is a casualty of that. In the last year there has been an armed robbery, several burglaries and recently a purse snatching incident. A long story short: It isn't going to get any better around here.
