I am rewriting my review of this place after going through the moveout procedure... my original review is at the bottom.
I like just about everythign about this place - until I moved out. I was cheated out of my security deposit. I know this is pretty much standard fare for a lot of apartments, and I would have expected it with some places, but I honestly thought Fountianhead would be different. Prior to moving out, we (2 people) spent an entire day cleaning. One person spent almost the entire day JUST ON THE KITCHEN. It was spotless by the time I moved out, but according to the move-out inspection (done when I wasn't there), the kitchen was "dirty, greasy" and had "food crumbs and spills". All I could think was that they looked in the wrong apartment! Absurd. So that threw me for a loop, then I read on and saw that they were going to charge me for carpet cleaning. When I moved in, the carpet was filthy and smelled like dog (the people before me has 2 large indoor dogs). I complained and had them come and clean the carpet two times before I finally gave up and just moved all of my stuff in. The carpet still had dog har and dog smell in it, yet they refused to replace it. Then, when I moved out, they claimed that the "carpet was dirty" and that I would have to pay for it. First of all, I can't even believe that they are so CHEAP that they would leave that varpet in for the next person... it was substandard when I lived there. Secondly, I dont know how they can charge me for dirtying the carpet when it was never even cleaned properly before I moved in. In the end, they tried to charge me MORE than my original deposit! When I called to protest, I got just what I expected - "oh, we'll just call it even" and "there's nothign I can do about it". Well, calling it even still jips me out of my entire deposit, and I doubt that the property manager has NO say in the matter of deposit refunds. Slimy tactics.
I really liked this place until I moved out... now I have a sour taste in my mouth. Anyway, here was my original review:
I have lived in a 2 bedroom townhouse at Fountianhead for 1 1/2 years. The only reason I am moving is because my job is relocating to the south side of the city. The staff is friendly, the apartments are huge, and rent is reasonable. The building are a little old, but the maintenence staff is always quick to respond to even the smallest problems. I had no problems with any of the other residents, no problems with noise, and nothing but good things to say about the upkeep of the property. I highly recomend Fountinahead if you are looking on the north side of Indy!
