I have lived at Garden Arch for a year now, and I love the fact I have an upstairs unit, all hardwood floors and a corner unit with even more windows/light in my very large bedroom.

Though the air system sounds like a freight train when starting up, and the kitchen isn't very functional (not a place to live if you love to cook), my corner deck is great for letting my dog lay outside and take advantage of the extra sun.

Sadly, there's been talk of Van Rooy having to remove these decks, and I'm hoping this isn't the case! I love everything about my apartment and hope to be able to stay. Maintenance has never been an issue for me, since I haven't needed anything fixed in the year I've been a resident. I will say; however, it takes a while to hear back from the office should you have a question about anything. Other than that, though, everything is great.

The rumors about the decks being removed was true. I too live in a corner unit and no longer have a deck as of yesterday. I do, however, have a gas grill in my living room due to what I feel was very poor communication by Van Rooy. They also offered no reducation in rent due to them tearing down over 60 square feet of living space from our apartments. A week ago I would have echoed the opinion that this is a great place to live, but now I am completely frustrated with this situation.

Hi neighbors. I live in the south building and am FURIOUS at the destruction that has happened recently. I feel especially sorry for the people in the corner units that have no balcony whatsoever anymore. I'm confused as to what's going on with the north building since those poor schmucks seem to be forever stuck in mid-demolition. I have the feeling that something has hit the fan somewhere and I hope someones giving it to Van Rooy up their ass just like they did to everyone one of their 20 upstairs-unit tenants. I can't even talk about it without losing my mind. These balconies did nothing but make the quality of life better for everyone. Never did anyone drive past these buildings, gasp, point, and say "Look at what they did to that place. They put balconies on those apartments." The people to blame are the nazis at the historical society. The injustices I have seen at their delight are countless. They're absolutely ruthless. This whole violating their tenants by Van Rooy is shocking, to be honest. I've told many people how I think they're a very reputable company to rent from. I don't necessarily disagree with that anymore because I don't believe one mistake should ruin your reputation, even if it is a collosal one such as this. What VR should have done out of respect is bite the bullet and refused to do this. By the way, did you notice how rent has substantially increased? Way to go VR. Soddomize your people and then make them pay for it! I feel so cheap!

Could someone please comment on the inconvenience of not having covered or garage parking in Indianapolis (where it snows). I'm from a warm-weather state and while I love the look of Garden Arch apartments, I wonder if it wouldn't be more practical to rent at Riley Towers where they have a garage. Please comment!
