I've lived here for over two years and have never had my car or apartment broken into. People break into cars that have expensive things sitting in plain view. At this point I've lost count of the number of times I've seen an ipod sitting on a car seat. This apartment complex is in a downtown area, what do you expect if you're stupid enough to leave an ipod in plain view?
And how is someone going to break into your apartment? Sure, everybody and their mother knows the master door access code, but how are thieves going to get past the deadbolt on your door? I know in my section there is more than enough foot traffic to prevent anyone from breaking in through a window, let alone someone trying to crowbar their way past a deadbolt. Again, if you're stupid enough to not deadbolt your door when you live downtown, you deserve to have your apartment burglarized.

Just because something bad didn't happen to everyone there does not mean it doesn't exist, let this poor person air the truth if they want to, consider yourself lucky it didn't happen to you, but it definately does happen there. I lived there and have filed two police reports about a window peeper and lived one the canal and had two broken window screens from people trying to get in. If poeple want to really know how often it happens, call the police station for reports filed.

You're downtown, on the canal, what did you expect? This is going to happen a little regardless of where you live if you're renting in the city. Use common sense and don't be outside alone after dark and call the police if you see something suspicious. That's why they have jobs...

My brother and his girlfriend both had their cars broken into living here. She had nothing in plain sight. They just drilled a hole in her door lock and ripped out her stereo. There is a problem, not much is done about it though.
To the person who posted on 4/13/2008. Yea you're downtown but you are paying a premium price to live in a very desireable area. I know on the north side of St Clair street they could do a better job of preventing strangers from wondering up to people's windows. They could also put a gate around the parking lots to prevent unwanted people from breaking in. They are just too cheap to front the money.
