LIVING NIGHTMARE
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/2/2009
Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
My husband and I lived there only a year to save money for a house. During that year we had our cars (both of them) broken into 3 times... THREE! Which my husband had at least 200 cds that he would hide in a case under the seat...now gone. We also noticed a man trespassing and going through the dumpsters for literally 4 hours. We contacted Connie who is the property manager there and we had a really rude response stating that "well short of 24hr security there is nothing we can do", but they never bothered asking him to leave. On a few occasions (and when I say few, I mean at least 4 times)my husband and I would come outside in the evening only to find 5-6 cop cars waiting behind parked cars looking for someone.
In regards to the physical state of the apartment, it was disgusting. When we moved in two of the burners did not work on the stove, mold was outlining the shower, there were yellow stains on the wallpaper in the bathroom, and it s really hard to do dishes in a tiny one compartment sink. The carpet already smelled like cat urine when we moved in, but now they are taking it out of my safety deposit to replace the carpet because I had a cat. Since we moved in I had seen numerous strays, but nothing was done in regards to getting rid of the stray cats, and knowing a few of the other residents ants has always been in issue no matter how clean you keep the apartment.
My husband and I moved in Heathmoore MAY 2008 and we were told that the pro-rated rent we were paying would go towards the last few days in MAY 2009 (our lease was up 05/19/09) and that our last payment would be in April 2009. My husband and I found the perfect house and moved out in March but still paid March and April rent to finish out the lease. We then get a letter on 05/08/09 saying that we were to go to small claims court because not only do we owe the full rent for MAY 09 (of $459) but a late fee of $75 and court costs. We have been trying to get this corrected with Connie and their corporate HQ for over 2 weeks now with only being able to leave voicemails for someone to call us back. We then tried contacting the collection agency Heathmoore turned us over to so we could just pay the debt of around $922.00 that we DO NOT owe....(to avoid it going on our credit), but when the collection agency called Heathmoore and their HQ they could also not get a hold of anyone to confirm the total balance "owed". It is almost like they are avoiding us so the case will go to court. I would have to say that living at Heathmoore was a total nightmare.
