The good:
I lived here a year. My brother and I share a three bedroom apartment and pay only $705 for a HUGE apartment. Very spacious. The master bedroom is very big, but no walk-in closet. Or tub. Just a stand-up shower (hard to shave the legs!)
Maintenance is very quick to respond to requests, both on an emergency and non-emergency basis.
The staff (for the most part) are polite and helpful.
Never had my car vandalized or broken into nor have I ever been threatened or harmed.
The bad:
I don't feel safe here. There are a lot of drugs being sold and used here, apparently. People shoot guns off. It is not uncommon to hear sirens several times an evening, especially on weekends. Suspicious neighbors with almost no furniture, and people coming in and out all hours of the night.
The apartments are around 32 years old and have not had many cosmetic improvements.
The class of people living here are not the greatest, probably due to the inexpensive rent. People regularly litter, and not just paper trash but alcohol bottles and cans, cigarette butts, and random things like Q-tips and hangers. It's gross.
Our ground floor apartment has been flooded twice (no permanent damage, though the toilets and tub overflowed). It's a hassle.
They supposedly have patrolling security officers, but I sure haven't seen much of them. Also the locks on the patio doors are poor and it's easy to bypass them to enter the apartment (we're on the ground floor so it's a concern).
Bottom line... If you are a single female, I wouldn't live here. A teenage girl was accosted in the parking lot last summer. If you are a single guy, you'll probably not be bothered by the things that bother me. My brother doesn't share my concerns about security at all.
P.S. - Not a good place to live if you have kids. There's only one tiny playground in the whole complex. People let their kids (of all ages) just wander around and cause trouble. For instance, this past summer, kids jumped the fence to the adults-only pool and dumped a bunch of blue Kool-Aid in the Jacuzzi. I looked like a Smurf for a couple of days. To their credit, management does offer movie nights and fun activities for kids at the clubhouse on occasion, but there's not much for them to do on a day-to-day basis.
