I've lived in Hillcrest Woods since April of 2007 with my two roomates. We are all 21 years old and needed a cheap place to live for awhile. We were given a tour of a VERY huge 3 bedroom apartment that was gorgeous and the employees were curtious. Even the rent was so low it was unbelievable. When we got the apartment, we were told we'd be on the 3rd floor and have a balcony, but our apartment was underground. The hallways smelled strongly like marajuana every single day/night. The walls are thick, but you can hear every single noise and step from the apartment above. Most of those noises we REALLY didn't want to hear. The fire alarms will go off randomly for over an hour for no reason and no fire trucks or anyone will come investigate. While walking my dog, we constantly run into dirty diapers buried in the bushes outside, and other clothes and trash. Once when we came home, we walked in the front door of the builing and there were almost 15 pairs of dirty panties spead all over. They stayed there for 3 days and made the whole building smell disguisting. It was vomit inducing. The parking isn't bad unless it's a weekend. Then you have quite a walk. Also the neighbors drive like it's a demolition derby and will ride your tail if you're not going 50mph in the 10mph zone. Our air conditioner leaked extremely bad twice since we've moved in, completely damaging our furniture. Also, our mailbox didn't lock. It took them three times to fix it, and it still opens by hand.
The shower heads in the bathrooms are up to my chest. We have to crouch down when we need to wash anything above our shoulders. If there is more than one person using the shower in the building at the same time, the water will pulsate from freezing to burning hot over and over again, like every 2 seconds. It's almost impossible to get a decent shower in the mornings.
We also once received a letter stuck to our door from the front office that read something like this: "Dear Resident, Last night there were two car jackings outside your building. One women was shot. The men were caught and have been attacking surrounding complexes. This is just a reminder that your own personal safety of yourself and your property is your responsibility, not ours."
That just shows how much they seem to care about the safety of it's residents/resident's children and family. If you don't mind dirty clothes in your hallway, diapers outside your windows, and the fact that no one cares whether your life may be in danger, then I suggest Hillcrest Woods. Otherwise, you're better off living underneath 465.
