mold, noise, terrible communication with management

1. our toilets continually have mold grow in the bowls, and it isn't for lack of cleaning. Questions/complaints to management got a response that boiled down to "well you must be dirty, the water isn't contaminated." This despite the fact both of us in the apartment have had health issues when we regularly drink the tap water. we drink bottled water or boiled water only, an added expense/difficulty
2. Our closet/bathroom flooded last winter when pipes in the wall burst. They put fans on to dry the carpets but did not replace them. Mold has grown into the drywayll and carpets now, and a recent slow leak was discovered and has ruined my art portfolios and made us throw away several boxes used for storage of other things.
3. Communication with the office management is non-existant. They do not answer the phone and they do not return messages left on the machine.
4. Previous apartments in the complex have had similar maintenance woes, including a leaking roof, sewage backup through the utility closet into the carpet/living areas.
5. Their idea of repainting when people move out is literally using spray paint along the floor boards and rods in closets to cover over smudes, scratches, chips in the paint. I found a piece of cat poop with spray paint on it in the floor of one closet when we moved in, you can see the paint on the carpet near the floorboards.
6. The complex works with rehab/outreach programs, offering bus rides and encouraging people in AA, NA and other such programs to live there so they can get the support they need. While this is admirable, it is not communicated to people moving in. Thus *SOME* of the people in the complex have legal/social issues and it makes it a less safe environment. I have had items stolen from my car three times in the years I've lived here.
7. there is a hole of some sort between our apartment and the one we share a wall with. Thus cigarrette/marijuana smells frequently migrate from their place into ours (it seems to come through the kitchen, in the wall under the sink near the pipes).

So I'm not the only one fighting mold on the toilet bowl. And to top it all off I also have the wax seal on the toilet leaking but f*** them I'll let them fix it when I move out of this dump.

Contact the Marion County Health dept 317.221.2010 in regards to the mold. Take as many pix as possible, keep a ledger of the times you make maintenance request, you might even want to fax them. Build youself a case, & take them to small claims court. Or you can contact the people who actually own the property www.arlingtonproperties.net
