RUN AWAY FROM THESE APARTMENTS

I am getting ready to move out of Lake Castleton Apartments. If you happen to break your lease you pay four months rent plus utilities two months after you have already left the premises. So, two months rent is to break the lease and the other two months well I'm not sure why I have to pay that. They say they explain it when you sign the lease, but trust me they don't. Also, they said a lot of people get confused by that part, but they have yet to fix the problem. There have been many robberies here in the few months that I have been here. There have also been several muggings. There is always police activity around here as well. The lighting isn't that great outside either, so with the neighborhood not being the best the lighting should be better. My husband won t even let me take my evening walk, or take out trash at night. Although there are alot of parking spaces, none that are open are near your door. Also, when I first moved down here we had a storm that blew down over half the fence around the complex and it took them almost three months to fix it. When it rains here it floods like crazy as well. One day I had to park my car down the street and get out and walk home in the pouring rain because of the flooding. If you have a pet it is required that you clean up after them, which of course is reasonable; however, not everyone does this. In fact I have only seen one person EVER pick up their pets waste. My first week moving into the apartment someone on the second floor was taking out their fecal matter from their cat and the bag must have ripped open because there was litter and cat poo down the stairs, on the entryway, and out the door. It was there for a week. Then the smell started to come into my apt and I finally gave up on thinking someone was going to clean it up and ended up calling the apartment complex to clean it up. They were really quick to respond two days later. I think the creepiest thing is I noticed a neighbor who is only home on the weekends yet maintenance and some other guy go into his apt on almost a daily basis. One gentleman goes inside and walks around snapping pictures while another one waits in the hall doing what seems to be a lookout. This apartment just seems old and worn down as well. I needed something quick and although they have 6month lease option I was not allowed being a new tenant so now I have to pay around $2000.00 just to break the lease. Please if you are looking for a cheap apartment go somewhere else. They do exist in other parts of Indianapolis.
