Yo!

This is a ghetto, crime-infested slum! See it all here!

I HIGHLY suggest, as with any apartment complex in the metro area, that you visit here: http://imaps.indygov.org/cvc/wizard.asp and see the real story for yourself.

The map shades in where the complex is located and even identifies it.

In the past 90 days, this complex has had 23 incidents of crime (mostly crime against property, i.e. vandalism, break-ins, thefts).

Compare that to just 3 incidents of crime across the street at Bayview Club. And 2 at Shadeland Station Apartments, 2 at Castleton Farms and 3 at Columns of Castleton (where my husband and I decided to go - very cheap and big with low crime). This is all within a 1 mile radius of this complex!

Now you tell me - is this a ghetto slum in an otherwise nice part of town or what'

My brother lives here. My husband and I were looking for apartments in the area for a short-term lease while our house was being built, and we considered this place until we actually SAW it. There are hordes of geese everywhere (and poop! You need a pooper scooper to walk anywhere!). The buildings are old and run-down, they're obviously in serious need of remodeling (to the point where building codes are most likely being broken). Castleton is such a nice area, that it's a shame that anyone in local government allows such a slum to exist. The office personnel are also completely horrible and two-faced. We went in to talk to them and received the worst service (snapping at us that they were busy - with no one - and would get to us in a minute). They completely changed their attitude from "Why are you bothering me'" to complete sucking up when my husband mentioned that he was a doctor who wanted to live near the hospital. We told them that we were just too turned off by their attitude to even consider them further. And then the attitude returned as we were walking out the door. Terrible!

My brother and his roommate will not be renewing their lease.

I feel the same. We love in the apartments now, and I absolutely am ready to build my house or at least by one. We pay a lot more than others for the area and they can't even grant my husband's wish of putting some nets on the basketball court. He is ethnic therefore they didn't take him seriously and said they just ordered some. This was over a month ago and they still have the same ragedy courts. YET the tennis courts are amazing. HE IS NOT A TENNIS PLAYER!!! I am so sick of their false promises and lazy attitudes that there is no way in hell we are staying another year. The only reason we stayed this year is because we are young and our credit wasn't where it needed to be. BUT now we will be ready come April. AND they raised our rent like 60.00 they tried 80.00. They are ruthless!

What is wrong with you people? I'm so tired of hearing about how LC is a "slum" and so "ghetto." Is it the best complex in Indy? Certainly not. But if you think LC is a "slum" you and your doctor husband obviously don't venture outside of your overpriced condo in Carmel that often. It's pretty sad that some people have such a screwed-up, overblown sense of entitlement. Crime is a problem in the complex, but they have added more lights and security cameras, which is certainly the best that they can do. Seriously, people, a "slum"? I've done missions trips to very rough areas in Detroit and New Orleans where most people don't feel safe walking around after dark. Consider the fact that LC as lots of walking paths, two pools, and on-site security and it's clear that LC is certainly not a "slum" if you actually understand what the word means.
