Want to move out even more now

I originally lived in a 1 bedroom apt towards the hospital. The rent was cheap and I felt fairly safe. Now I live in a 2 bedroom near the main entrance. Yes, the staff will lie to you and tell you your rent is one price then change it but that's water under the bridge compared to the stuff now. Just today I received a letter that a man was held at gunpoint by three men in the parking lot last week.A couple months before this we received a letter that an apartment was broken into but he had left his own patio door open so it was practically his own fault. The management sent out the same old letter regardless of the situation-get to know your neighbors, lock your doors and windows...We've literally walked by the police sitting in their cars watching a movie. The location is great and the price is right but I definitely would not want to live here by myself.

I live in a 1 bedroom in the back towards the hospital and I have received 4 or 5 notices of break ins in the past 2 years. Recently a neighbor of mine who just moved out said that there were two guys circling my building looking suspicious. There had been an incident a few days before where a guy walking the lake stopped and asked my boyfriend who was out on the patio for a ciggarette so he obviously had time to see what I had in the apartment. Then there was a guy walking around my building at 11:30pm when I got home and then the same guy again the next morning at 7:30am then the same morning I got the call from my neighbor, so I called the office for police assistance and to check out my building. The office said they couldnt do anything about it and the cops werent there that day, and basically that the cops werent there for what i thought they were there for so what did they do??? Gave me the NON-EMERGENCY number for the police. Now I am 20 years old and I live by myself and I am a white female nice car nice things so I am an easy target. And the office did nothing to protect me, and supposedly the rent is to go up by 8% everytime you renew your lease. If you ask me I have never had problems living here, but it seems like that's only because I have been lucky no one has picked me yet.

That's disappointing that people think being a white female makes you an easier target. Being a female at all makes ANY WOMAN a target as does living alone and having nice things. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be a racial issue, but a woman of color is just a vulnerable as a white woman.
