I first moved in here 6 years ago and it seemed like a nice place. But over the years, just like in a marriage, the true side started to show more and more and I finally realized it is time for a divorce. There are a few (very few) things I like about the complex. I was lucky enough to get an apt on the lake, so I have a nice view from the patio. And I was lucky to get a pretty good monthly rate that didn't increase until this year. So 6 years without a price increase is really unheard of nowadays. That's where it stops.
Here come the nightmares:
-Parking - More times than not I end up parking at least a door away from my apartment. But recently I have found myself having to park many doors and sometimes even buildings away from my apt. I will run an errand on a Tuesday night and when I return 15-20 mins later there are no spots open in front of the building. Every year I ask about an assigned spot and one year I was told "it would take too much work." WTF'!'!'!'
-Neighbors - I have had some nice neighbors, but recently they are moving more young party-types in here and the office does NOTHING about the noise they bring. And people do NOT pickup after their dogs around here either.
-Maintenance - poor. My last request took 3 weeks before they even acknowledged the request after I contacted them a 2nd time about it. Then it took another week before they fixed the problem. And for 4 years in a row I had to call them out to recharge my AC after I told them I just needed a new unit. They finally got a clue and replaced it and guess what - NO MORE CALLS ABOUT IT! I know, shocker huh'
-Snow Removal - Forget about going anywhere early in the morning (like work) if there is a heavy snow. They don't clear the roads in the complex until later in the morning and then they stack the snow up behind the vehicles so you have to spend another hour or so digging out a path to get your car out.
-Staff - When you move in they are really nice and helpful. But now that I am moving out I have been met with nothing but rudeness and complications. Just today I had a verification of rental history I needed for the new apt complex and they acted like it was such an imposition. It was 5 blanks that needed filled out and a signature! Once she signed into the computer it took a total of 1 minute to fill out. Geesh. Yeah, can't WAIT to see how things go on my final day when I turn in my keys.
Overall, this was a great place when I first moved in. But now, I'm counting the days until this ends. I would suggest looking around a little more before you settle for this place.

If you can't hadle the snow then move south. Indy doesn't recieve enough snow at any one time to prevent anyone from getting out if you know how to handle a car in snow.
