I have lived in Lake Castleton since April of 2007, I only moved there because my terminally ill mother was moving back to the city, and was moving with me so I could care for her, so I had to find something bigger than what I had, so I found a spacious two bedroom apt with this company. I could go into GREAT detail about the pros and cons of living here, but I won't, because all of that is very irrelevant at this time, what is relevant is my mommy passed away in our home, on my bedroom floor, and I found her. This happened on the 20th of January, me and my mommy split the rent, Lake Castleton knew this, my least is up April 15th, and I have no other means of paying 750.00 soley till April 15th, and they don't care because they won't let me out of my lease and I only have a month and 15 days left to pay, I still don't know how I'm going to pay the rent come March, because I don't have 750.00, I'm Considering breaking the lease and just letting them sue me, and it's not the money issue, I'm some what traumatized about finding my mother dead on my bedroom floor, and I haven't been staying at home, but do they care about that' NO!!!! They want their money and I think that's SICKENING, and I only have a month and 15 days left on the lease, I could see if I had more time to be there but I don't, I have been a very good tenant, I've NEVER been late on my rent not one time, and they are holding me to this. I've had other issues with this complex, and some were addressed and some weren't, and I will give them credit for trying to fix the issues that I brought to them about my apartment, but I can't believe that this company would be so cruel as to hold me to this lease for one month and 15 days, given my situation...I really can't believe it.

I feel bad that your mother passed away. At the same time Lake Castleton is under rule of the corporation AAMCO. Like you said when you and your mother moved in together, she was sick. I don't think that Lake Castleton should have to pay for the passing of your mother as mean as that may sound. You signed a contract saying that you were going to stay there for however long and that you were going to pay $750...we are all going through things right now. Though it is going to be hard to make rent, that is still your responsibility. Sorry.

ok u know what anonymous, your comment wasn't much needed...hello I think she know's what her responsibility is, duh! We all know that the property owner is not just going to pay her rent unless it was through honest simpathy and kindness. What the hell was your purpose to posting this response? I'm going to post a helpful response to the grieving individual...as for help with your rent sweetheart try going to the trustee office in your township. If not there are several help lines that can guide you in the right direction other than a bastard not providing any other helpful sources. Yes, we are all going through tuff times and need a little help from EVERYONE no matter how small it is. I'll try to post a help line number when I find it also try your church and see if they can help..I know eastern star is very helpful in unexpected situations like these...

If the unit has bad memories, has she considered transfering to a smaller more affordable unit? Do they have one bedrooms or studios aviable there? That way you would not have to move as far and rent a moving truck as long. Also most places can transfer leases. Also, some places offer lease buyout options that can be less than a balence of a lease. I work in another complex, and I highly recommend that you do not break a lease. It can show up on your credit and prevent you from renting else where for the rest of your life. You really do not need that stress. Trustee's office is a good option, but they can take a month or more to get the check/payment to the office. Some church's might help with rent payment. Do you have other family or friends that might loan you the money? Does your place except credit card as payment? Can you go to a Cash Advance or small loan place? I work in another complex on the eastside, and I'm trying to help. I hate for you to be one of the people that I see and have to deny renting too because the owe money to a complex for broken leases. That just makes me sad. I hope I helped.
