We have moved to a second apartment because the one before was so noisy. We could hear the woman above us walk around all night and day and it woke us up frequently. Also, our bedroom was connected to the stairwell that lead to the second floor. So anytime someone walked up or down the steps it sounded like someone was banking right on our wall near our bed. We contacted management about us wanting to change apartments and they complied (thankfully). They sad it must have been just our apartment because they had never heard a complaint about ceiling noise from someone walking above in their apartment. Nevertheless, in our new apartment we experience the SAME noise! I have lived on the first floor of other apartments and NEVER heard such creaking from people walking. It's like the builders forgot to use insulation when building the ceilings. It really sucks and I wish we either lived on the second floor or never moved hear at all.

Oh, and people don't pick up after their dogs and there's dog ---- all around the lake.
