Opinions about Lakeshore

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008

I was a resident at Lakeshore Apartments for 2 years. As a dog owner it was nice because it offered a very nice walking/bike riding trail behind the units. I never used the dog park, but I knew many others who enjoyed it. Most of the neighbors I met were very friendly.
That is the best of it...
My unit was equipped with a washer and dryer. The washer jumped around so much that the legs of the unit broke through the linoleum. When I called maintenance, they came out and agreed that the washer needed to be replaced, it never was. The ice maker did not work when I moved in, when maintenance came out to fix it they left a large mess and an ice maker that never worked. The water heater flooded my little dining room, half the living room, and the bathroom, the contractor who came out to fix and dry the apartment did a good job.
Like many other ex residence, I have to concur that the use of the pools is impossible if you are looking for a quiet relaxing experience. Both pools are filled with intoxicated young adults that is reminiscent of spring break. I can't proove it, but I doubt that many of the pool users were residents of Lakeshore as evidence by witnessing people propping the entrance open or using cell phones to know when to let their friends in. And their friends were, more often than not, in tow with coolers.
The work out room is nice, if what you are looking for is using aerobic equipment. It is a very busy on this equipment if you come at the wrong time. Most days at least one piece of the equipment was out of order. The weights are limited to an old pull cable "universal" weight machine. All in all, the work out room was a nice amenity but has some room for improvement.
The safety of the community is a little sketchy, but I don't know if I would say that it is anyworse than any other apartment community that I have lived in. Some armed robbery and car break-ins, you just need to practice safe and observant behaviors. I had one friend in the community that had their second floor apartment robbed about a week AFTER maintenance rekeyed their apartment and there was no sign of forced entry. That definitely made me happy that maintenance refused to come into my apartment since I owned a dog.
Their management team at Lakeshore, though always pleasant to speak with, left a little to be desired. My first winter at Lakeshore I asked 3 people on their team when the last time was that they had the chimneys cleaned in the units and received three different answers. I only spoke with their manager a few times while I was there, but each time I was left feeling that he really didn't care. I have very little to go on there though, because I spent very little of my time interacting with the Lakeshore team unless I was paying rent so that judgement is based on limited interactions.
One last odd thing that I have only encountered at Lakeshore. They do not offer outgoing mail service to the tenants. When I had to mail in my first few bills I was confused and went to the main office, where they told me I had to go across the street to the Marsh and put it in their blue boxes.
