This place has been way more trouble than it was ever worth for me and every person I know who's lived there in the past 5 or so years. People who lived there in the 80's and early 90's said it was "the" place to live in Indy. Now, it's nothing but crime and hassles from employees.
Lake Nora Arms Apartments does not take legal responsibility for anything that happens to you. If you ever consider moving in there, ask to see a copy of the lease and read it thoroughly. It states (and someone else wrote this in here) that they are not responsible for ANYTHING that happens to you, even if it's something that happens because of their negligence!
I don't know if that's standard for apartment complexes, but I don't recall reading that on any lease in my lifetime.
Most people I know who moved there did so because it was less expensive than the Keystone, Castleton, and Broad Ripple apartments. From the outside, it looks nice. The brick buildings are well kept, the lawns are mowed once a week, and it's relatively quiet.
During the day, anyway.
At night, you never know what's doing to happen. Don't EVER leave your door unlocked. If you're a woman, don't sit outside after dark alone on your porch. For that matter, don't do it if you're a guy either.
Besides, they take advantage of all the social service agencies in Indy by accepting Section 8 so the place is full of mentally imbalanced and, possibly, very mentally ill people.
I have total respect for those kinds of people and believe they should have a right to live anywhere they want. But you when you put a bunch of people in one community who were supposed to be in Central State till the government closed it down . . . Well, problems are bound to arise.
I never knew about that while I was there, but I thought it was weird how many older, somewhat creepy guys would stand around and stare at me, or wander around in the parking lots, talking to themselves.
But those aren't even the worst people living there. It's the trashy people and their trashy kids, and the young trashy people and their trashy friends who could give two sh*ts about you, your privacy, your sanity, or your desire to have peace and quiet.
For what you pay, it really isn't worth it at all. Get a safer apartment for a little bit more money and a little less space in a gated community and don't be afraid to leave your windows open.
Just leave it alone.
