People who currently and formerly worked there should not be allowed to make reviews. Period. If you lived there because you WORKED there, it doesn't count. If you're friends with someone who works at the apartment complex or you are currently employed by them, your opinion doesn't matter.
I was there for several years because I couldn't afford anything else on the north side. If anyone has ever read "Nickel and Dimed" they might understand how difficult it is to get yourself out of a situation when you're living off minimum wage. To afford a studio apartment by myself that was $450 a month I had to work two jobs. I couldn't just get up and leave because I would have to pay a month's rent in advance plus a deposit somewhere else. I was living at or below the poverty level. I needed to be close to work because my transportation was unreliable. The bus won't go on 86th Street and I couldn't rely on the IndyGo service to pick me up in time. I NEVER was able to afford a cab.
Due to the lack of maintenance and general structural damage to my apartment, I assumed I'd never see my deposit back. Eventually I did move out but I was punished when I did so. I don't know who Jessica is, but a woman who used to work there literally stole from me and there wasn't anything I could do about it. Believe me, I tried.
Overall, I do not recommend this apartment complex. Plus, to the disgruntled former residents and the slap-happy employees, I recommend you be completely honest with yourself and the people who might be trying to get something out of this service. Giving something all 5 stars or all 1 star is just screwing up the reliability of this rating service.
I would say Lake Nora looks nice from the outside, nothing special, but clean. Inside, it's a mess; both the apartments and the residents. But I've never lived in any apartment that didn't have problems or crappy, constantly-changing office staff.
All in all, I give this place 2.5 of 5 stars based upon what happened while I was there, but 0 stars for personal reasons.
It is not the responsibility of the apartment managers to make sure everyone living there is a "nice person," but they do have some responsibilities to which they are not owning up. It's disappointing, but not surprising.
Take the review from the former employee - don't believe everything you read. Even from him/her.
One thing to keep in mind is that crime is every where. When you mix in uneducated people and living in poverty (a family of five crammed into a one-bedroom), conditions are generally unhealthy both mentally and physically. It does not make for a good combination. You have children and teeangers who are unattended and left to wreak all sorts of havoc, then young people who are living in groups and partying all the time. Those of us who wanted a safe, quiet place that was inexpensive just had to work harder to get out of there.
By the way, last I heard, people were calling Lake Nora "Little Mexico." Someone else called it Central State II. Not to be nasty, though those aren't nice things to say. Just stating some hearsay.
