I moved into my apartment in April. Since then, we've had the following problems at least once:
Air conditioning went out Air conditioning leaks water into the carpet Moldy smell from AC leak AC thermostat doesn't really work; the temperature is typically 68 or 76 degrees with no happy medium Fridge went out, required defrosting Stove went out Turning on the microwave blows a circuit 1 in 10 times Bathtub drains extremely slowly Bathtub has a film and chemical smell that will not go away with scrubbing Toilet missing a hose clamp; sprays water out the top Windows painted shut Dishwasher leaves a film on everything Double-paned windows are dirty in between the panes and need replacement Closet doors don't open or close easily Bathroom door doesn't close Mailbox lock is off track and gets jammed
I have previously owned a home, so I've got some experience fixing problems. In fact, I've fixed a few of these myself. But this place needs completely redone with new appliances and wiring. Shortly after I moved in, a new housing manager started, and she seems to be doing a lot. However, the condition of these apartments would require years of repairs. It'd be better to tear it down and rebuild the place.
