From someone who has lived in a fair share of apartments. A drama story!

This is a rant about tenants...
I have lived in many different apartments because I move around a lot. I have lived in Latitudes for two years now because I think they are fair apartments. I have noticed that in cities like this, with multiple Universities, a lot of the nicer apartments are filled with college kids riding on school loans. I graduated a couple years ago so I know what that's like. I have lived in four different "nice" complexes and, well, they all have something good and bad about them. This place is no different. I hear my neighbors and I am sure they hear me, but that's to be expected. In my last apartment I lived in it was noisier I think. A huge plus to this apartment is that it is completely electric, so you don't have to worry about gas bills. I currently live with my cousin as a roommate and have since I moved to Indiana.
Our last apartment here was on the third floor and the people below us made two complaints about us because they could hear our television or walking at around 4am...that was about the time I got home from work. I would normally sleep up until 3 in the afternoon because of my work schedule, so my day would begin then and end around six or seven in the morning. I would cook dinner when I got home, so of course I would be walking around! I wasn't loud. I am not a heathen. I tried to be quiet at times like that because I know most people were sleeping and when I was sleeping I could hear their television and washer going and I didn't see what the big idea is.
I now live on the second floor with people all around me and occasionally I hear someone talking or the television. I was upset the other day when I came home and found a handwritten note on my door that told me I needed to quit stomping up and down the stairs all hours of the night because it makes their dogs bark. I wasn't sure who thought it was ME stomping up and down the stairs at all hours of the night, but I am at work all the time and I don't go doing things like that for fun! Well, apparently the people upstairs thought I left a note similar to mine on THIER door and confronted me about it. I showed them my note and explained to them I didn't have a dog and we figured it was the people on the first floor. Thankfully...I saw them starting to move out yesterday. I really hope they see this and realize they live in a apartment complex and no matter what apartment they go to they are always going to hear their neighbors "stomping" around.

My roommate, fiance, and I all work Late late shifts and our neighbor complained about us going up and down the stairs at all hours of the night when it was us leaving and coming from work. About a month after the first complaint he actually stepped outside and confronted me at 5 in the morning asking what I was doing running up and down the stairs! I told him I try really really hard to keep quiet, but my work boots are a little heavy and it's hard when you're just getting off work and youre tired and ready for bed. I told him I just got home (still in uniform) and I was really really tired. Apparently he saw that I wasn't kidding and stopped complaining...I hear people come up and down the stairs a lot and it's not noticeable enough to bother me. Some people are different. My apartment isn't completely soundproof either...but it's better than the last apartment I lived in.

The noise isn't bad if you're in your apartment and hear someone else in your apartment. But, a lot of noise does come through the door and patio door. It's never bothered me though. People need to realize that when they choose to live in an apartment that things like this happen. They're wood stairs, they will make some noise. People need to get over having dogs in an apartment anyway, that's really cruel.
