We read the bad reviews and decided to give it a try with new management. We have lived there for 4 weeks as of this weekend.
We love the layout and size of the apartment - it's just what we need.
Managmeent got rid of the noise and druggies and it's a very quiet apartment complex and the courtyards are very quaint.

Unfortunately, they are very old buildings that are not holding up very well. I understand things break:
Our first night at 2am we were awaked to our ceiling tile falling in the hallway and soon we had a shower from leaky pipe. They came out and "fixed it" and we woke up at 8am with yet another shower. The maintenance manager came out and spent most of the day. Carpet people came out and laid out huge fans and sucked up all the water that had tralveled into our closets. 2 days later there was yet another drip from the same spot. Apparently that was a different issue altogether that would have caused another leak if the tiles weren't already off. They fixed it. 4 weeks later, the ceiling tiles are still not up.
That week, we had 5 leaks counting those two, and 3 bathroom leaks.

Through several layers of paint, had also managed to paint over every phone jack (we had been excited to see a phone jack in almost every room). We called yet again and they came out and we were told they were only obligated to give us one working phone jack so they cleaned out one phone jack for us. That would've been nice to know when we made the decision of where to rent and saw outlets in almost every room.

Since then, the rod in the closet fell and because we were tired of calling them, we never even reported that. The drawers in the kitchen are not on tracks and my father in law came over and jimmy rigged it so the silverware drawer didn't fall when you opened it. Most of the cabinet doors don't close. The utility closet door doesn't close.

Now for the new issue. Remember - we're at 3 1/2 weeks right now.
It's been cold for about a week and our heat will not go above 68 degrees regardless of what where we set it. We called maintenance yesterday and talked to someone. Didn't receive a call back. We called again this morning and were told the office had spoken with the maintenance and they said something was probably busted so a contractor would have to come out and the soonest that would be would be Friday. This morning when I got up it was 62 degrees in the house and we have two little boys under the age of 4. Why can't we just have a liveable apartment'
My kids are spending the day at my inlaws because it is too cold for them to be in the apartment. We are paying for a livable apartment and we do not have one.

The day after our first leak when we were asking for a hotel so we didn't have to be at home with those huge fans drying out the carpet which in the end caused my husband's asthma to act up, they offered us to move into a different apartment in the complex. We had JUST moved in the day before and didn't want to change our address and get a moving crew again. Apparently they're not obligated to put us in a hotel if they offer us an alternate apartment''' Does that mean every time something breaks we have to move again''' P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS

Your heat is actually supplied by the hot water heater, there's a pump above it on the outgoing line that puts water into a "residential radiator." Generally they're plugged into the wall and a small electrical relay (black and cube shaped) will be warm. If neither of those are the case, then maintenance should replace them both. If worse comes to worst, refuse to pay your rent until your demands are met.
