I've lived in a lot of apartments, and I have a lot of complaints about Lockefield. The hallway always smells like some animal has peed on it. When I first moved in, I had a huge bug problem. Spiders and centipedes were everywhere, and management didn't seem that concerned. I had to have the exterminator spray every week! I think the bugs somehow come in cracks in the walls because the buildings are so old.
The walls are the thinnest walls I've ever lived with. I can hear everything my neighbors do, including walking across their floor.
Maintenance is awful, and the only way to get something fixed is to be the staff's worst nightmare. My garbage disposal didn't work and was clogged when I moved in, so when I ran my dishwasher a huge amount of dirty, nasty water backed up into the sink. It took them two weeks to fix it, and they only came out because I went to the office in person and complained. My water heater doesn't give me a full shower, even though they supposedly turned up the heat. When the maintenance men worked on it, they forgot to reconnect the hoses and water went all over the floor the next time I used my washer.
The only good things are the parking, the floor plan, and the close proximity to campus. I've never had a problem with parking, but other parts of the complex are packed with cars. I think I just got lucky and there aren't many people with cars in my building. I've seen the towing company take a couple of cars per night (just at my building), so they really keep good tabs on who has a permit and who doesn't. The floor plan is spacious for the price, compared with my friends' downtown apartments. Overall though, I think this is not an awesome place to live, but it works because I'm in school.
