The management also lied to me. They said the alarm system would be perfect for a single woman like me, knowing it was broke. A week after I moved in, I called asking for some instructions on how to use it and was told that the unit in my building no longer functioned and could not be repaired since the alarms are so old.
1 month after moving in, my car was broken into. I think this is because the complex is not well lit and the carports are especially dark.
My biggest complaint is the maintenance staff. My closet rod broke 6 times - the guy just kept coming and putting the same cheap little plastic holder back up for the rod. Finally when I talked to the maintenance manager, he braced the rod with a board...only for the other side to break shortly thereafter.
The maintenance man is about 60 and whenever he comes to your apartment, it will reek of smoke. He was unable to fix my nonfunctioning outside faucet b/c it was too much trouble so he told me to just use the one outside the laundry room.
My water heater has broken 3 times and each time it took them over 2 weeks to repair it. Talk about a cold shower! And don't think the staff will sympathize with you and adjust the rent or anything.
Bugs, bugs, and more bugs. I've just gotten used to the spiders, ants, and rolly polly bugs. I called each Monday morning to be put on the list for the exterminator. One Monday I forgot and of course they didn't do my apartment. I asked if they could just do it weekly, and no, they couldn't, I had to continue calling every Monday.
The apartments are really old and look like they've just been painted over a million times. Under my sink in the kitchen the wood is water damaged and smells terrible. I've asked Smokey, the maintenance guy, to repair it, but he hasn't. My sink leaked 2 times and now, since the wood smells so bad, I'm not sure if it's fixed or not.
The dishwasher has never worked.
The laundry takes credit cards. I used it b/c I couldn't find enough quarters. What should have been a $2 charge, ended up charging my card $9.
When Smokey repaired my water heater the last time, he had to remove the countertop. When he replaced it, he left me with a complimentary gap in my counterspace.
My window has always leaked. When I call the office, Smokey comes and tells me I'm just not locking it. When I explain the last person to open/lock the window was him, he tells me that can't be, and leaves. I never open my window, but every time it rains, if I'm not home to put a towel down, I'm left with a mess to sponge up, not to mention the mold that must be growing in my carpet.
My lease expires this month, and I am moving. The rent is pretty high for such a crummy apartment x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
